  1. Your 8GB PC3-12800 module looks at you: Am I a joke to you?

  2. Can't wait to be a second ahead of the competition when opening PCMark.

  3. very random but did anyone notice the fidget toy he was holding

  4. Unfortunately, the industry doesn't seem to want to go the "less lanes, same speed" way. Been waiting for more connectors for years now – not likely to happen. It seems like this is a consideration for the server market – so if you want that extra hard disk? Pay 10,000% for your PC, because it's not even "significantly" more expensive, but ludicrously more expensive (a server-grade top-of-the-line CPU – just the CPU – costs about as much as, or more than, a top-of-the-line gaming PC as a whole). So sell your whole PC to buy just the CPU, and enjoy 16 more lanes! ;D Because why would anyone want to sell you more lanes, if they can make more money just selling you a bigger and/or faster disk instead?

  5. Use Terracopy

  6. That "Gen 5, I feel alive" hurt me inside.. I bet a good percentage of people didn't get it though.

  7. Forspoken is probably using direct storage 1.0 which does not utilize GPU.

  8. The speed of working with small files at the level of sata 1

  9. I want a “But wait there’s less” LTT shirt or sticker!

  10. The 990FX was a mainstream platform more than 10 years ago with 42 PCIe lane's. Don't make excuses for intel and AMD's profiteering of 16ish platform lanes. These modern platforms are nothing but a sad disappointment.

  11. But, this is why the EVO P{lus drives are the ones to buy. They just keep going…. Questions?

  12. cool. from what you described about the cache optimaization , RAID 0 might be beneficial to maintain higher speeds for longer or at least lower the avg time to transfer files per drive in raid

  13. Finally Linus can use his 10 gigabit internet speed to its full potential

  14. The problem with the whole pcie thing is consumer motherboards almost never support pcie bifurcation, so having "extra unused lanes to work with" won't happen.

  15. Hey Linus (or anyone who can help)! This whole weekend I’ve been dealing with a PC that has 100% disk usage, did all troubleshooting i could think of and/or find, and the problem still persists. I upgraded the RAM from 8GB of DDR4 to 32GB and just installed a M.2 SSD. I’m trying to migrate Windows 10 from the HDD (3TB) to the new SSD (1TB) and am using an older version of Minitool and couldn’t utilized the ‘Migrate OS to SSD’ option due to the size difference but found an alternative: copying all partitions from the HDD to the new SSD. Currently waiting for it to do its thing via the wizard. Will this work seeing as how I couldn’t use the “Migrate OS”? If so, I’m guessing I’ll need to clear the old drive so I don’t have two drives with Windows

  16. Why haven't 4K random reads improved? That doesn't require the "folding" state or the analogy to arranging airplane seating. Does the new generation of flash chips use the exact same internal row/column layout as last gen, just skimping on the MLC write endurance? Sure seems like it. And that would be quite a scoop. Almost as big as when Apple downgraded their lowest end M2 laptop flash performance.

  17. Do you have any workers that aren't obese?

  18. 1m views in 1 day? Someone is obviously using viewer bots…

  19. You really should use Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 for SSD loading tests. It can show a huge improvement with extra throughput. Going from Gen 3 to Gen 4 on my previous system cut over a minute off the loading.

  20. hi can i get a computer #2

  21. Your idea of using only 2 lanes of PCIe5 to save costs to add more ssd:s is invalid. The reason is that they seem to need extra chips to allow longer distances, and quality of PCB needs to be better.
