Deals for Days. Big home savings are happening now.
Regarding our statement that the Amazon Basics unit is based on the Cooler Master H412R: the H410R, H411R, and H412R all use the same heatsink, but have LED fans of different colors. Cooler Master's own product pages show identical specifications for all three, including weight at 358g. Additionally, reviews of these coolers from the time of their release show that Cooler Master doesn't appear to have used the same angle on the corners as the Amazon Basics unit.
Given that the H410R and H411R have since been discontinued in North America, while the H412R remains for sale, we're still comfortable with our statement that the H412R is the basis, even if it's more complete to say the 41X family is the basis.
The big take-away here is the poor performance and the quality control deficiencies that we observed and verified. Our conclusion remains the same: don't buy this product or whichever heat sink CM based it on.
"Worthy of the Amazon Basics name"
What a tragic fate.
"We are going to do it my way!", by dropping stuff, classic.
"Quality control" is two words, Linus
Just buy a secondhand cooler. You can get much higher quality coolers for lower prices that way.
😂 loved the Canadian Pam.
Amazon moment
and the results of the budget tower cooler round up… is that you should just buy a Noctua U12s.
Ya'll should do more collaborations with gaming nexus and jayztwocents. I mean, ya'll cover the exact thing within days of each other. It would be dope to see more of that.
They're really trying to get their money's worth out of all that Naked Linus action.

Coolermaster has some very nice products.. I would not blame the company for designing a bad cooler. I would rather blame amazon for taking a veeery dated old design which coolermaster still happens to produce and sell.
channel "taikamuna", the one with all the dominoes sculptures, is hacked right now and streaming to its subs as "microstrategy [us]"
why did you pronounce vague as vaaayyg
he sounds so goofy at 6:31
I don't think I'll ever cease to be flabbergasted by how everything these days has RGB. I know taste is subjective, and the overabundance of RGB in computers being tacky is just my opinion. But the fact that it's a point of decision making for some people, where if something like a fan has RGB or not will affect a buyer's decision just stuns me. Personally, while I have nothing against a bit of RGB, I would rather not waste my electricity on anything that doesn't help the performance of the machine itself. Not really a cooler thing, just, you guys talk about RGB so much, I'm just surprised that many people actually care about it.
Pathetic excuse of a review – infested with three linus tech commercials and an additional mention. I suppose we should be thankful there was no mention of the outrageously priced screw driver.
Next video, shave it down flat and see how well it cools?
i have the SE-214-Xt and i love it.
I hated one part of this video which was the segment to your sponser Moment. Moment is…
:4)
How come we never see scythe coolers?
Nice
"The 20 dollar S EEEE 214 XT" => dear video editor, are you meme-ing Patrick from Serve The Home oO
What if we use the scientific liquid cooler to cool an air cooler with a custom water block ?
Linus Tech Tips now is not more Tech Tips its more – Linus advertising his stuff
6:33 "the $20 S E 214XT"
why the patched audio
2:25 was a fucking flashbang
Man what is up with coolermaster? I bought a hyper 212 evo from them that is way better than any of their stuff here today for $35 years ago lol. Seeing now despite the same price, the newer versions have way worse contact points and cooling. Older evo had full coverage with direct contact to copper heat pipes – no aluminum base plate points stuck in between, usually punched waaaay above its price class. These newer offerings at same price make no sense. So odd
They should literally have used the deepcool gammax 400 (or gt) as a base
"…we're gonna do it may way" drops a pile of components – Yes. Your way indeed, Linus.
3:05 Plugging your scam bottles. Nice
"handbreak" lol
Sad they didn't choose, like, the absolute hottest CPU. You know, for science. lol
Hi Linus. I have an idea to propose. Why not test coolers with active loads? You can produce a certain amount of heat, so you can compare coolers at a specific TDP further improving the accuracy. You could easily test coolers at different TDPs, for example 65W, 95W, 135W, different heat ramps and heat pulses, to show how the cooler performs in different scenarios. The first step in making comparable results is making standardized tests, and now you with the lab, you can easily implement this
You should do more of DYI coolers. Those are fun.
Awww should have put the Peerless Assassin up against them! I'm running the Phantom Spirit (one extra heat pipe) and I hit 79C on max CPU usage on the 5800X3D. Pretty happy with it.
Really? Who cares if it’s the H412R of the H410R? They’re evidently the same thing. Not sure why people come at channels like LTT for things like this – it doesn’t matter at all and as their pinned comment shows, they’ve got valid reasoning for naming it as they did.
But problem, it’s Not noctua
it's an old 92mm core2duo lga 775 cooler master cpu cooler that preceded the hyper212
There is more advertising in Linus videos than actual video.
Noctua air coolers are still the best and has the ugliest fans.
