This is what I can't understand.. My Legion 7i laptop with 11800H is trouncing this in benchmarks and it doesn't make sense.. I have watched 5 videos of this nuc and processor now and it's basically on par with my previous 10980HK laptop (alienware m17 r3). I don't think this is true 11th gen and Intel is doing some very cheeky naming here.. Geekbench single core scores are inline with 9 and 10th gen… I mean how is it possible that an 11800H with all core turbo of 4.2ghz, base of 2.3 is thrashing it? Cinebench R20 in the Legion 7i with the 11800H in performance mode is 5200. No throttling. That's well over 10% better than this. If I set all cores to 4.5ghz it's 5600.. 20% faster than this and NO throttling, temps around 95 degrees in that CB test. Something just doesn't make sense here.. A laptop is surely more restrictive airflow wise than this?
I can't even find ANY info if it's unlocked or not, even though the K moniker should mean it is.. Does anyone know? The 11800H is not an unlocked CPU but Lenovo have it unlocked in bios, unlike Asus, etc. So I basically put it at 11980HK settings and it kicks butt. I am very confused with this nuc.. I think on paper is much better than reality.

I bought a brand new one 2 days ago and after owning it for 2 hours I turned it into a brick with Intel's Auto Update Bios update. There was no option to restore the bios. nothing worked. I need to return it which I bought it for $3500 Canadian..
I have a NUC8ithvk and thinking about buying one of these to upgrade. I've been loving the possibility of connecting my older NUC to my beloved Apple Thunderbolt Display via the 2 Thunderbolt3 ports. I see this computer also has two Thunderbolt4 ports…but will it let me connect my Apple monitor? And mostly, if it does, will I be able to use the dedicated gfx rtx with the display or it will only utilize the integrated intel graphics, since the thuinderbolt4 ports are behind the compute element and not the rtx (which only mounts HDMI and DP ports)? Thanks in advance

WHY IN THE HELL DIDNT THEY HAVE THE NUC FACE THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CASE???? it could get fresh cool air that way. The gpu is fine where its at they sould of done pcb facing pcb. that would of solved a lot of the thermal issue

3:44 there's prebuilt pcs like the maingear turbo that are just a little bigger than the beast canyon but have an actual pc cpu. Plus maingear pcs have the apex hardline cooling and let you pick the components you want

I wonder if you can leave the side cover off where the GPU is and install a three slot gpu and have that cooler just hang out the case.

I was gifted the Manta set by iFixit from my family for my birthday, but it doesn't have the Flexible Extension part that the Mako set has, which was the iFixit set that I had asked for.
Now I am stuck with the conundrum of either paying $7 for the part to then pay $40 for shipping it from my Brother in the US to Norway, or buy the Mako set for $38 just to get that $7 part I want, because iFixit US is the only store that sells the part, but they do not ship to Norway…

A laptop desktop hybrid isn't a Nuc WTF.
It's not really that impressive when you can build an ITX system that isn't much different in size. This really is defeating the whole ethos around the NUC idea of old.
I don't get the form factor of this. Most mini-PCs were already questionable. Ok, maybe you have a room where you really don't have the desk space and need to put a tiny USB-type or micro-PC behind a large PC. Then you have the smaller use-case where you want a small, cheap mini-PC in on small desk or platform next to your TV but don't have a full-sized desk. However, the moment you need a $2000+ PC which has half the size of a normal desktop… umm… you clearly have a case or stand next to your PC and its hard to imagine any TV housing these things which can't house a full desktop or just $100 for a new stand. If you are running HDMI cables to a closet, size doesn't make a difference.
