at 29:00 Standardization in tech fails? We would not be able to communicate without many of the standards we already have! Of course not all standards will be widely used. But in general standardization works pretty good.
A good example of rationing resources is Resident Evil for the PS1. Nowadays in games you mostly have infinite ammo and regen items. In RE you would run out really fast if you were sloppy. It felt so good to have a reason to be strategic about it.

no sorry linus but some times you do have to be mean to your kids. there is a reason single mothers are responsible for 70-80% of the statistics around suicides, young criminals, drug abuse, runnaway children, mental illness. it's because they don't want to hurt feelings so they let the kid get away with stuff and the kid never learns what it needs to learn to become a healthy functional adult. being mean don't mean you have to be rude just means you have to step up and make sure you teach them what's right and what's wrong even if it might hurt their feelings a little.
The solution to your script review issues could come from software development: When someone implements something, they first put it up for review before merging it into the codebase. Someone senior, which is familiar with the part of the codebase the changes touch, goes through it to make sure it‘s good. It works out well for keeping up quality.
The same could be done for scripts: at every stage you want it reviewed, it‘s assigned to someone else on the writing team that knows about that particular topic. If it‘s a Linux video, assign Emily, for example, to review it.
Now this means the writers spend maybe one day a week cumulatively on review, which means you need a few new writers to cover that, but it seems to me like the most efficient and best quality way to do this.

It is such BS that gaming was in a bad space… It is the golden era of gaming right now. Sure you might not find it in the AAA games but man Indie games are amazing.
My nwn days are long passed, but i do recall late game mana regen on some classes, but definitely a difficulty consideration. Also the day long cooldowns we’re definitely a thing, but one day in the game was not 24hrs wall time. Probably like 15-30 minutes and i recall something like you could “sleep” to refresh your hp and mana? It may have required a reagent from a vendor. I can’t remember if it was nwn 1 or 2, and my memories could be way off, but the general vibe of your experience sounds 100% accurate.
