Linus’ home LAN PCs just got a lot smaller. But not SFF smaller. We’re talking 1U server rack small. But downsizing has introduced some complications….

Linus Is the reason i never switched to water cooling.
you could just have a cool rgb riddled pc on the desk, but no you just want a weird pool heating server room.
Where can i get one of those 360mm radiator stands to mount externally?
That remote power button seems dumb… Why not set up some home assistant devices and use WOL?
Alphacool fittings like that usually come with a metal collar that has 'teeth' that goes just over the end of the tubing and when you put the rest together the pressure causes the teeth on the collar to dig in to the rubber of the tubing and hold it securely in place, they're not quite like the regular water cooled barbs so use that metal collar.
This would have went a lot better with a 2U case and you could have used a regular power supply.
Linus, just buy a used PS5 and let the kids fight over it like every other family in the developed world ')
I always love these home episodes
Ah yes, another of those "Linus cries poverty despite being rich" videos.
Honestly, it would have been cheaper to build an enclosed case large enough for 10 mid-tower PCs with a dedicated cooling system.
Remote keyfobs can be enhanced by placing them on your temple and using the shape of your skull to amplify the signal. Works with car keys.
umtiti
I used a similar power system for a media center, except I actually connected it to an IR receiver that 100% works to turn on the computer from completely off. As well as works as an RC6 remote the rest of the time.
Downvoted for the to-be-continued, boooooooo
I literally just did this… damn it would have been useful to have this two weeks ago….
Cheaper but more complicated. Hmmm… time is money to some.
I just use smartplugs to have 100% power control over my machines. Even works with "google turn on primaries/secondaries" etc automatically. Have used this to power cycle my hardware when I'm on the other side of the country. 25€ per one of those plugs and having anydesk installed and I haven't had control anxiety since I started doing this on all my work and home machines.
Just note yo have to set the "turn on on AC power" from BIOS and voila. In addition I also use a special app I created to completely turn off the relays when power use goes below 5 watts to prevent windows from autostarting, updating and bricking itself (has happened), and allowing turning those machines on through google assistant which became a half-accidental feature and easier than just using the power button.
Instead of the expensive custom 1u chassis, should have designed a kind of 4u blade server, more interesting and better fit with no height restrictions
"You want the waterblock visible when it's in the rack."
Overbuilds cooling solution. "Cheap's out" on pc to save money bc he overbuilt the cooling solution.
Why no headphone stand? Even a nail would do lol. Big meh dumping the headphones on the monitor like that.
To be honest, it is sad to see kids cannot get a comfortable PC usage/gaming experience (especially when their father has access to literally any kind of existing PC parts/accessories) but are instead forced to be part of endless experiments that pretend to solve problems (which never existed)
Linus, I no longer expect anything from you.

Linus *under breath*: …Why is it so expensive?!
"It's a server, man. It's for businesses, not normal people."
You call Linus 'normal'. HAH!!
Bruh the mother board has vga how old is that thing
Linus, if time has shown us anything, you building anything in a 1U rack case always goes bad! 😂
Sorry..but he can easily afford 6 of those systems. Dont plead poverty from the kitchen in your mansion, McDuck.
lol the nasaly early morning linus on the second day
Can't help but feel the biggest thing he's sacrificing is upgradability
Wow this was a mess of a video
you can use your head like a antenna for these controllers, only you need is point to your head and clicked, the distance will rage up
That shirt is Cool!
Why don't you use 2u cases, each housing 2 systems?
You could add a cheap esp8266 to replace the receiver of the keyfob and integrate it into home assistant via wifi
Please buy another rack 😂
God forbid the kids dont have 1000gig upload speeds. The suffering.
I can't help but be at the end of this video (which I have immensely enjoyed) and wonder how this is a better solution than just having a PC on your desk beside your monitor hahaha
