I just bought 4x16gb ddr5 trident z5 7200mHz to pair with 13900k on a z790 mobo in a Hyte y60 case for video editing and gaming. I'm excited to see this thing fly once it's finished! …still looking at the rtx 4090's …undecided about a few things>> air or aio, brand and series. Zotac, Aorus, Suprim… so many choices!!

I'm due for an upgrade… In a vacuum, would DDR4 3200 Mhz CL18 16 GB (2×8 GB) be less or more powerful than a DDR5 5200 Mhz CL40 32 GB (2×16 GB)? It sounds like if you just run the same capacity on a DDR4 board, it's actually faster to run 4 DDR4 8 GB rams than to have 2 DDR5 16 GB rams.

I am still on DDR3, works well enough for me, i think we've entered an era where gains in compute power provide the average user diminishing returns, even technologies from 5+ years ago are very capable today even for demanding tasks, so the world has become utterly oversaturated with tech, good thing for the second hand market as you can get really good hardware for pennies.
