  1. Are there other hidden smart home features on iOS/Android that I should know? 🤔

  2. That last bit of Alexa and Siri arguing made me think of the movie Jexi

  3. What iPhone case is that?

  4. The outro sounds like the old skool, Genesis vs SNES arguments!

  5. My Samsung phone has "modes" and "routines" like Smartthings, but I've never bothered to look into what they do, haha.

  6. You can set your Android phone to use home assistant's voice assistant when the power button is held. No need to hold down a microphone button and can do it from the lock screen.

It's actually a good thing that all of the Android sensors are off by default. When I first found that list, I hit the Enable All button. Later that month, i notice that Home Assistant had used the better part of a gigabyte of mobile data just keeping those sensors updated. Not so much of an issue if you have unlitmited data, which I don't, but it could also affect your battery life.

  7. I can’t find the video where you talk about the Apple Shortcuts menu option, where is it?!

  8. Great video, could you share the name of the app you used for the Android night stand clock?

  9. Android plus Tasker. ❤❤❤❤

  10. Do iOs shortcuts work if the device is off?

  11. What’s the shortcut you use on your Apple Watch for different voice assistant ?

  12. I love these videos man

  13. My favorite is Home Assistant controls in Android Quick Settings. I have some key switches there so they are a quick swipe to access from anywhere on my phone.

  14. Thanks, Reed, for taking the time and doing android phones.

On Android 14, home assistant can display any dashboard instead of using the built in toggles on your lockscreen.

  15. On my old OnePlus 7T, Home Assistant listen automatically.

  16. Phones are really good tools for smart homes because of apps.A lot of smart home companys have a app. And the shortcut app also is really good for smart homes.

  17. I was pretty surprised when I found out about Samsung's "modes and routines" that let's you take full control over your phone via routines. Triggers can be: being connected to a WiFi network, time, certain message received.. So I made it that my smart home would send a notification to my phone and this would trigger a routine that adjusts phone settings. For example when I go to bed my smart home tells my phone and it will mute ringtone and turn on flight mode after a few minutes. Or when I leave the house it will turn on Bluetooth and much more

  18. I have to say: Smartphones is an incredible tool and a portable hub for all of your smarthome devices. I ❤ it. 🥰
