This is kinda stupid, ppl assume ppl magnets near a drive hurts it but you put a hella strong magnet directly onto the drive The magnet likely interrupted the Drive Spin.
Logically speaking you probably shouldnt even put a fridge or a weak magnet near or on a hard drive since the gap between the read/write head(s) and the disk(s) is on a scale of NANOMETER and slight disturbances will mess up you're hard drive. Even with weak magnets it could probably corrupt a portion(s) of the hard drive.
My phone case has a magnet and everytime I placed it on top of my laptap it would turn off, I still need an explaination to why it does this. 😂
