We’re all gearing up for CES 2024 coverage this year, but ASUS came by to give us a first look at what’s coming up for ROG. Let’s take a peek at what’s new and if slower = better

These laptops are more powerful than my desktop 🙁
Hey guys I got a question… I am building a computer and I will have cpu i5 13600kf but im not sure if the motherboard b760m H DDR4 would pair well with it
I thought that would be about #1 Twitch Female Streamer
Sponsored "reviews" are useless. Buy the thing and review it for real.
It's not even upgradable RAM. Don't even bother buying this shit. You'll get ripped off for more RAM.
I just want usb-c charging 😭😭
Well There are still problems in editing videos ltt, at 3:13 you reversed the g14 to g16.
Sorry but Asus lost me with this one soldered ram and a preparatory charger makes this a nightmare for service and spares. Another one for the ewaste bin.
Wow what an awesome laptop – 20-ish cores of intel reactor and a 4090. So it has 2 reactors in it, and it performs as well as a desktop for the entire of 5 minutes it takes to empty the battery 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ye but if ur really into production / productivity workloads you might want the 4090 on the AMD CPU sooo…??? Perhaps Intel paid them to make this change?
Animatrix was better looking.
90W vs 145W TGP on competition Razer 14, is a mayor setback, we know what ASUS says, but lets wait for comparison side by side.
Soldiered RAM, really?
Razer is packing WiFi7 out of a box.
Frankly previous G14 had already amazing size, this reduction which cut back much of power was unnecessary.
Bigger Key-caps, better speakers, currently best display out of announced 14" laptops that's a solid plus.
Overall I don't like the changes. While reduction to 4070 can be understood, TGP 50% lower than competition may result in drastic performance difference (despite ASUS claims).
Animatrix was awesome, this bar I want to cover with dbrand already…
I find it cringe most remembered highlight of presentation was AI AI AI . AI IS AWESOME FOR EVERYTHING GO AI.
Also kind of ironic they claim it will be BETTER for ai cause few CPU magics, but actually VRAM of top 2023 was TWICE as big (8gb vs 16gb), which would be better option.
the previous gen also had atrocious cooling lol.
why not a macbook
6:36 "Steamdeck OLED doesn't have VRR" And I am 100% OK with that, in fact it's more than just ok I actually prefer it.
With Steamdeck allowing you to manually set the refresh rate to anything you want that also accomplishes the same thing as Nvidia Reflex eliminating the GPU bottleneck in the render pipeline and dramatically reducing input lag, but on Steamdeck this is achieved on an OS level universally without any modifications to game code by the developer.
3:09 Model names switched?
12:28 DC-DC voltage conversion is extremely efficient these days, there's no way you could be losing 24 watts, even if the system draw was 240W instead of just 180. This sounds like dumb marketing to get out of using USB-C.
Now if only they offered a FUCKING "PRINT SCREEN" BUTTON!!! The perfect laptop ruined by not having that button smh. It's mandatory for my use case, COME ON ASUS!!
5:36 I can't believe this isn't how it was always done. This is how basically all LED lighting has controlled brightness basically since LED lighting started becoming popular.
5:41 If you'll remember 15 years ago the old Plasma TVs had the same 960hz refresh rate, for a different reason but it's the same method of maintaining consistent brightness.
Well played Asus Marketing Department!
I like turtles!
I can already feel that replacing that screen if anything happens to it is going to cost an arm and a leg
4:55 Oh… So that's why my LG C1 flickers at low brightness with VRR turned on.

3:01 needs a "That's what she said"
Too bad about the soldered RAM but other than that I really like this laptop!
i love my M16 im kinda jealous of gaming capabilities of the G14 screens tho
They look premium finally…. Oh, wait… they look like macbooks 🙂
2:04 they havent had fingerprint readers in YEARS
The audio, WOW
There seems to be an error at 3:12 the things that Linus says aren’t the same as what is written on the screen. Also it is confusing that on the left it says G14 and on the right G16 even though the device are placed the other way around.
what an awesome looking laptop, too bad I cant justify spending that kind of money on what would basically be a toy for me.
I find the video very confusing on which one is which, why did the G16 went from black to grey?
they could have put a 40-42V usb-C @ 5A and a capacitive divider inside the laptop that has very high efficiency leaving with 20V @ 10A = 200W and like 3-5W power loss inside the laptop, it would need an expensive usb-c charger but it is possible
3:15 confusing to have them switched
