Effective management will consider added energy costs in their decisions and particularly in places where energy costs are high, a notably more efficient machine may have a better business case than something more powerful but cheaper. And that's to say nothing about changing your operating environment if your staff are already used to the Apple ecosystem.

Ummm, Apple's pricing always made sense, and has been pretty consistent – overcharge and make more money. I'd never waste my own money on anything Apple related, but its hard to argue that their strategy of simply over-charging doesn't work.

When I ordered my MacBook pro all those years ago, I could have upgraded it to 8 GB, but I didn't. Instead, I used 3rd party memory to upgrade to 16 GB for the same price as 8 GB would have cost me direct from apple.
But hey, that is ancient history. I've been using Ubuntu for years now.

Please try daily driving a Samsung galaxy 3 3G. It has EVERYTHING you mentioned as a perk. However it has more. It has the elegance of a premium watch. I have a third party metal strap . And no lie, one time I was at airport security and I asked the assistant if didn't have to take of my watch. And they let me through. Also the G3 has its own sim card so I can have all the functionality, even make calls and leave my phone at home.
