Did you know that you can get the internet wirelessly now? Well, you can, and while it might be amazing, it comes with a certain level of risk, especially if you are using a simple password and happen to run afoul a person with a van full of RTX 4090s. Just how fast can a nefarious van dweller with a bottomless budget gain access to your precious shared network drive? The answer might shock you. Big shout out to Comino for letting us borrow this absolute leaf blower of a server, it’s been so much fun to play with.

Amazing Products TV Where did Linus learn about technology?

Comments

  1. Intel has an Extension allowing you to use PyTorch

  2. Time to change my wifi password

  3. Hope you can get a tax write off on the van, sorry couldn't resist!. Also avoid pet names. ☕

  4. Well if someone wants to play with vlans and networks i can recommend you guys the rt6600ax from synology or any router from synology

  5. This feels like a classic LTT video with the shaved linus explaining technical stuff.

  6. Something even more bizarre is that when you pay with your credit card near terminal and as soon as the payment is accepted you have the bank app open and you disable the card like ~30% of the time you get that stuff for free and nobody cares unless you a big spender. Don't like this comment and try to keep this information to yourself.

  7. "Build a wall and buy a router with less transmit power." Got it

  8. I dont know who Gary is….but he made this video!

  9. Based on my experience, aligning your car and setting up your antenna works well only some of the time. A secure way to protect your home network, or any important radio information, is to physically manage the transmit power and location of your router to prevent sensitive data from being exposed outside.

  10. Linus Crime Tips

  11. Im changing my WiFi password after this, a hundred percent

  12. Who actually has a data limit on his home network? What year is this? 2002?

  13. nobody cares. shills and industry hacks.

  14. My biggest fears in life: Spiders, death and Linus cracking my wifi

  15. So what you need to do is turn off wifi. You don't need it anyway… no, listen again, you don't need wifi. Ah ahh ahhhh. Listen little one. You don't need wifi. You think you do, but you don't. That printer? plug it into the usb port on your router or use an ethernet cable. Your tablet? usb ethernet dongle. phone, same. What's that', wires are too complicated, awwww that's cute. why even password your wifi if you're being a baby about it.

  16. some routers are still vulnerable to WPS attacks, which means people can litterly steal your WPS code.
Doesn't matter if you change your password after that, they can ask those routers what the password is using that WPS code, and you can't change it

  17. Only some trussted nics on the Wifi 7 network, did we do it good enough ?
envy printer on USB only ?

  18. You know what the best security with obnoxious IoT devices is? Don’t have any.

  19. Just use the password "ERROR", that way when they look at the log of the recovered password all they'll see is an ERROR. 😂👌

  20. Another reason why I'm only buynig printers with a LAN port. There's hardly anything more annoying than troubleshooting why the darn printer WiFi doesn't work.

  21. Sounds like wpa and wpa2 are pretty awful, but woa3 is not going to work well for simple iot devices. Getting some devices to play nice across vlans like printers and machines is a pain, sometimes the packets can’t find the devices.

  22. You can use google lens to scan that qr code and know the password

  23. The explainer at the end was too short, I wish you had explained it more

  24. So… Not mentioning MAC-Filtering at all then?

  25. "No internet provider included"

  26. Just use a word from a non english dictionairy and make sure its not the same in english. Im pretty sure that would make it way harder.

  27. data limit? what is this ? the 90's ?

  28. I really wish Linus mentioned the fact that using passwords that simply have longer characters is often more than enough, 3 random words (from a wordlist of 2048 words) + a 2 digit number would yield 93687598022656 possible passwords for the attacker to try..now if they can check 1 million combinations a second that would mean around 3 years worth of crackin!

Now the longer passwords can be both secure and easy to remember like "producedigitalmention44" not like "!)@7z9129*1213"

  29. War Driving van, I believe is what you mean.

  30. I love the new 15 years old Linus 😂😂😂

  31. wow, i remember wardriving

  32. 12:30 now i'm sad, i actually named my ssid "susnet" once

  33. i was expecting it to intercept random people's wifi and make it super slow

  34. LTT with a touch of modern rouge sign me up.

  35. Just use an XKCD passowrd, just 4 or 5 completly random words.

  36. wardriving at its finest
