Computer repair is big business, and no one is bigger than Geek Squad. If you’re no IT expert and your PC’s sick, should you go to Best Buy, or should you look at a smaller fish?

that would be a good idea if linus open up tech shop for people to bring there computer in to fix he would put geek squad out of business eventually the more money they would have more stuff etc.. like new tech etc..
I feel like the worst they did was installing Bullshitbenchmark on that computer.
The sad part is .. your 'made up' friend is the kind of person you run into all too often.
That guys at the Best Buys sounded like scammers, which is ironic, considering … they do scam you.
Why you dont outsource to different countries
All the tech support guys in bestbuy are indians lmao 😭😂
I have a completely different theory as to why the technician didn't mention the disconnected fan control cable.
He probably thought that the not connected Cable, didn't seem as a complicated enough defect, for the customer.
It sounds much more complex if he cites a software error and the reinstallation as the main error.
Because some customers may come up with the idea:
"I would have found the loose cable, too."
A lot of users really don't dare to do anything about the software setup of a PC.
This is a convenient opportunity for PC services to make good money additionally.
And it is also almost impossible for the end consumer to understand or question what exactly was damaged in the software.
So on the one hand, there is $30 for plugging in a cable
versus $280 for reinstall.
You should think about that.
I have quite a lot of experience in electrical engineering service and unfortunately I have also noticed a lot of bad things
Umm why was there no heat sink on that nvme drive? If origin is so great they'd know those drives get toasty and toasty drives don't last long….
PC and phone repair shops are so horrible most of the time. Not everyone is Louis Rossman. They do shoddy jobs of fixing your device so it barely works instead of making sure its up to spec.
I’m just curious but is it just me or do both Best Buy and geek squad employees sound very foreign? Lol
For years, people came to me (a friend) after they have taken their computer to a chain computer repair shop and they have made it worse.
So both shops and "friend"/relative options.
For many years i did jobs as a private person but after many years i just created a company (also cos so many same repeat costumers).
Take a shot everytime he sais "origin pc" ;P
I always go to small shops especially ones that have been in business for a long time.
well…well…well… Linus wearing the OnePlus Watch 2 , nice 😏
so strange.. id usually fix such problems for free in around tops 20 minutes. Moral of the story, just use tech friends
I see myself reflected, I start 2 years ago, I started 110kg. (242 pounds) now I’m 82kg (180 pounds) I’m a different person now, the only difference is that my wife is my gym partner, BTW the pull ups were the hardest to achieve, I started also at 0 now 7 😊
Before you claim you should open a tech support shop, you should actually prove that you can best them. Maybe challenge BestBuy and Keith to send you a rigged computer and see if you actually manage to fix it?
God you got horrible geeksquad reps, there are muuuch better ones.
Origin using zotac gpu . Are they broke.
I tried applying for a Geek Squad job at BB in 2010. By this time, I already had CompTIA A+ Cert and had a Network+ Certificate of completion. I had been building computers for nearly ten years and had experience fixing them. They turned me down, even though I was qualified for the job. Ever since, I despised GeekSquad; they just don't seem to fully know what they're doing, esp when an experienced tech comes in to try and work for them. At the time, I was willing to look into the SOPs of GS and bring any issues forward to management to make the process more efficient.
Never worked at Geek Squad, but for a competitor. The tech is probably making about 1/10th of what the customer is charged and under pressure to move machines. One example is the virus scan service. The customer was led to believe that all viruses would be removed. The real service was pull out the hard drive and run Norton on it. While this was more effective than a built-in scan this was during the heyday of spyware so lots of manual effort was required to get a machine clean. If you spent too much time doing it right you’d get written up. The two types of techs that were successful were either very experienced and able to identify problems quickly or those who did the bare minimum and moved machines quickly. I still fix my own stuff, but would likely choose the independent shop as long as they have a good reputation.
Keith sounds like a fun and great guy. You should invite him to LTT for a video
But surely fan spin fast all the time means no feed back. Conect the negative feed back loop —> look for wire loose
How do you get 3 people to interact with Kieth on a single system. Did he not think it was weird?
IF YOU CANT TROUBLESHOOT YOUR OWN HARDWARE YOU SHOULD NOT BE BUYING IT GTFO NEWBIE #GTFO #FAILARMY
30:20 i prefer to do it for ppl for free – after a good while of touching up on everything related to their issue that this channel has to offer – just so they dont have to worry either way lol you might think you "need" to start a repair business, but in reality: its just that your channel needs more eyes on it, which algorithms aren't going to bring…do something crazy just to get attention… the type of content you make will already outlive our generation, and your skill are invaluable in the future, so theres literally nothing you could do – no matter how controversial – that your videos, even under the same channel name, wouldnt survive…
LTT isnt like GMM or Mr. beast – your entire team could steal a fleet of trucks from veterans to drunk-drive thru a school for disabled kids on "bring your pet" day while throwing rotten meat out the windows – and i guarantee this channel would still exist ; sure ppl would (rightly) be INSANELY pisst and the internet would explode with articles about it, but at the end of the day "any publicity is good publicity" – and at the end of the week, ur just like a doctor in the old west ; dont matter if ppl hate u for one thing because they NEED you for the other thing that ONLY YOU can do… whatever hand anyone has against you – no matter how stacked theirs is – you simply "have a better deck" 🤷♂
Why are the side fans set to exaust?
Plot Twist: Chewie doesn’t play the ignorant customer. He has been playing the knowledgeable technician for years. 😂
His studio downsize was fake then
the way i repair takes longer, yes, but it gets done right. i ask questions as normal. but when it comes to a idk kinda repair, i literally take it apart and rebuild the entire pc from the beginning. no issues so far, no callbacks. rebuild it from scratch, don't take that long and you know its your work.
I can't speak for BestBuy in Canada. I currently work for Best Buy as a Geek Squad Agent and a Floor Manager. I have seen several custom builds come through the Geek Squad, I even had a personal service where a co-worker and I could be scheduled to help customers make custom builds and upgrades.
I don't know the SOP of BBY Canada, but I will say I am appalled and actually disappointed that those Geek Squad Agents for literally not even bother to take the decency of loading it up on to make the slightest attempt to get a rough outline or even a bigger understanding of the picture.
I'm going to take a personal note of this and make sure all new people I get in the squad don't pull this same stunt.
The first Geek Squad "agent" was simply an lazy Gandhi working for $14 an hour🤷♂️
