ASUS really sucks as a company right now, but the improvements to the ROG Ally handheld are undeniable. While we like the Ally X, we can’t recommend it until we see a massive overhaul in terms of customer and RMA support.

Deals for Days. Big home savings are happening now.
If this Ally is running a SteamOS, no question a day one buy for me.
I love this kind of video, overall positive vibe but still manages to take a little jab at Asus
Let’s keep the comment going until Linus responds
It’s a bummer I’ve only had bad luck with this device 🙄
ASUS really have to sit down and do something…
They can type up a million apologies, but it won't get them anywhere with that at this point.
I've always had massive issues with ASUS, I bought a gaming laptop years ago, it was still in warranty as was less than a week old.. I sent it off to ASUS repair centre to get the fàcia fixed as the logo in the lid was coming away.. laptop was working fine.. they sent it back 3 weeks later and the screen didn't work.. they then said they voided my warranty.. I just told the retailer of my experience and threatened them with legal action if they didn't give me a full refund.. would never buy ASUS products ever again.. they cant even successfully fix their own products.. they try to scam their customers.. why would you give this company any more of your money? Search for ASUS customer service, they have like 0 stars from reviews on Google in every country 😂 says all you need to know about ASUS customer services..
This is the best portable gaming device you can buy. Good job Asus.
15:10 Linus relationship with ASUS
Given Asus' track record I doubt they'll do anything to improve their customer support. A shame since they've been making decent hardwares even in the none ROG lineup.
@LinusTechTips 2:39 might wanna change the 2230MHz and 2280MHz to the form factor of the drive, not a frequency
It's amazing how stupid Asus are being about all the issues. Their main competitor in this space, Valve may have a 'lower tier' model but the lengths they've gone to with support, guides, and damn amazing software support is what's made it so much more successful. The gates wide open for Asus to come in with their decades of hardware experience to make things work well but seemingly they've still got this idiotic overly corporate approach to everything. I'll stick with my steam deck for a few more years, it's a damn fine piece of kit, and I know if i have any problems, someone decent will be there to help.
smashing the ally so hard on the table after directly adressing the asus leadership was the funniest thing i have ever seen on this channel. had a good laugh, thx guys haha
LTT precision screwdriver spotted😎
Honestly I would want to wait for a strix point APU, it looks like it's going to be a massive improvement when it comes to Perf/W which Perf/W in all power regimes that directly translates to higher performance in handhelds because you are both thermally and power limited so if you can get more performance per watt obviously you get more performance. Also I would want to wait for USB4.2 80Gbps bi-directional and 120Gbps asymmetric with 40Gbps in the other direction, which I think might be useful for eGPUs as you need to send a lot more data to the card than you need to send to the CPU or at least that is my understanding.
I gave up on ASU’s after GM coverage of it , just gonna stick to a steam deck
damn… thats tuff
dave2d said the same thing
its a good device, but hard to recommend without peace of mind that this will be a good device and if there was issues, you could have good rma
You forgot to mention the day one BIOS which fucked up performances making every review and preview irrelevant.
This or the legion Lenovo go???
Why you should by something that does not last a average flight, to entertain you. Sad.
I dont trust Asus since the AM5 problems back a year ago. Its going to take a lot to convince me to trust them again.
Not buying ASUS…
6:06 – Should have countered with the "Well who is this product made for??? Ayaneo for Ayaneo?"
If youre going to be coy like that. I'm just going to ignore your products and take my money elsewhere.
Those warranty issues doesn't aply in Eu btw. Have fun with your "freedom".
stop making asus videos until they fix their issues
honestly, correct move would be to not review ass-us products at all, until they fix their sht.
That black and white "NOPE" made me wheeeeeze
Yeah I can’t recommend it either. With not only the sd card slot going out, my left analog stick’s left & right function went out, after one of the recent updates. And I felt like there was always something to “deal with” when updates dropped, 🙄
