We bought an external 8TB hard drive filled to the brim with malware from a faceless group of researchers known as VX Underground. What is on it? What can we do with it? What are OTHERS doing with it? Big thanks to smelly and lil cheezer for sending this to us.

Comments

  1. You guys need to do more videos like this

  2. literally everyone needs something like ThreatLocker, itd be cool if someone could make it free or like copy the concepts and then make it free and for some reason green lmao

  3. 15:17 Regarding the XZ backdoor, it was far, far more scary than that. They were actually backdooring ssh, which for those unaware is a common remote control software that you often use to interface with Linux servers. Ssh doesn't even use XZ directly, it's patched in by some versions of Linux, so the people who works on ssh would have no ability to detect it by just testing their own stuff. If it had gone undetected it could have backdoored a significant number of Linux servers, and no one would know.

  4. reminds me of when i was in elementary school (90s) my friends and i would send each other trojans and do stupid stuff to each other computers. coolest thing though was when one of them infected their own computer in order to keylog when their dad typed in the password for the internet so that they could connect to it without his permission. Note: we never infected anyone else's computers other than ours.

  5. It would be really cool to use a RAT in your next episode of secret shopper to report on if technicians are accessing your personal files. It's a known issue and a company's internal policy for safeguarding customers privacy is ABSOLUTELY a thing to consider when sending a PC off for repairs.

  6. Try search, Indonesia national data center ransomware

  7. imagine in the future someone hacks your prosthetic arm and it starts to punch you non stop

  8. How about a virtual machine on a virtual machine 15:49

  9. Stop just just stop 2:53

  10. As an expert in the field, I just want to mention that it's not the malware that's inherently dangerous. It's usually the Command, & Control servers that often presents the biggest threat. Without that, most just seize to function.

  11. lockbit doesnt actually fully encrypt every file. We had this with a customer and were able to retrieve a lot of files / restore it. for example if an esxi server is encrypted you can probably restore the files in the vm

  12. comment of all "TIME" 7/1 1015

  13. He paid $500 dollars? He could just plug in a USB stick into a standard Uni PC and transfer some files..😂

  14. Love the shirt Tanner!

  15. Its also worth mentioning that modern malware has sanbox escapes built in. These can run checks to see if the binary is being ran in a AV sandbox and then not fire. For example windoes defenders sandbox's hostname is "HAL9TH" so adding a check to see if the systems host name is this then exiting without firing can help

  16. Send this to cdk to learn

  17. To be fair Marcus Hutchins (who stopped WannaCry) didn't commit credit card fraud. He wrote the UPAS kit, which was used in the banking trojan Kronos, as a teenager but also tried to pull out of the work, once he gave it some real thought.

  18. cool video

  19. ive been trying to figure out what was wrong with my pc for awhi;e now and i think i have a similar issue how can i get rid of it without loosing everything?

  20. benchmark antivirus

  21. The most important tidbit here is definitely Win10 EOS.

WIN11 is just completely unnecessary, probably even worse. The amount of E-Waste Win11 produces is on a different scale to win10.

Like seriously, i know some friends who has win11 laptops (brand new as well) and it severely lags with 8gb ram. Worse, some are soldered onto the board so you're stuck on win11 8gb ram… Even worse than this are some devices don't even have win10 drivers and the OEM license doesn't support downgrading to win10.

Idk what it is with companies right now but they seem to have a race of who gets to destroy their reputation faster.

  22. Great, this video made me not want to continue installing pirated software with no vpn or virus protection 😔

  23. This was a horror movie

  24. Love Any . Run !! 😍👍💛

  25. me trying to download ram

  26. Seriously, get the beard back. 😢

  27. No EDR is 100% effective. All it takes is one insider threat to allow a threat actor in.

  28. Me: Fixed friends laptop (as a favor).

Friend: (After 1 day) Hey its slow and some things aren't working anymore.

Me: Stop going to your 'favorite websites' and clicking things.
