Nakamichi was a legendary brand, and they’re back trying to compete with the likes of Samsung, LG, Sony and Sonos in the soundbar space while talking smack to high end brands like Bang and Olufson and Sennheiser. Can there Home Theater in a box, the Nakamichi Dragon, actually hold up?

  1. but have you tried Sennheiser soundbar? the full one, not the mini version.

  2. I mean, why wouldnt you? You picked svs lol and klipsch lol.

  3. I hate sound bars. You cant Chet physics. The size of your speaker matters. I dont care how many drivers you have, If they are all small its going to sound like crap.

  4. watched this video and listened on my klipsch rp600m II <3

  5. Nakamichi also makes car audio: DSP, speakers, SQ speakers, subs, headunit, and more.

  6. Hey Linus, you should try testing Groq LPU card for LLM 🙂

  7. Comparing to sonos without surrounds is not that fair of a comparison..

  8. Speakers are, of course, what you hear but when you've got a shitty processor, forget it. Yamaha or nothing.

  9. This is not a soundbar, but a hifi setup with a soundbar as center (which is imho a completely valid (probably the only one hehe) usecase for a soundbar)

  10. Balrog scene is cinéma perfection. Scene I always jump to

  11. My dad can spend twice that on a soundbar

  12. $6000 doesnt even get you an lcd

  13. Have you ever heard about the luxury brand called Bang & Olufsen which have multiple overpriced audio products in their line-up, including a soundbar for CHF 10'000 (Or CAD 15'000)!

  14. Ehh, Never have been impressed with Sound Bars. I will NOT say they Don't have a place. But if you can have at least a Decent 2 Speakers and a Subwoofer 2.1

They always win on a $1.00 vs $1.00 price.

  15. I wish you compared it to HT-A7000 with the big subwoofer and big rears for it, or with HT-A9. Also is the Nakamichi all wired up or also wireless connection? If the latter, if you could make a comparison of stability of that connection against competetive Sonys

  16. My Soundsystem is like a few hundret bucks with the most bang for the buck possible. I have 100 Dollar drivers, an 80 Dollar sub, the Laptop I use was like a grand for proper quality and I use a Dragonfly sound converter to make physical sound out of digital sound. All in all pretty ok isch sound quality for my room though…

  17. And then there's my broke ass using megaphone strapped into a laptop speakers for a soundbar

  18. Time and time again I feel like that point you touched on ever so briefly rings true…

You can get a remarkably good experience with a relatively low end true 5.1 set up.

Soundbars are for aesthetics and space constraints imo.

  19. Audiophiles are ripping there eyes out about now

  20. I'd love a "what sound bar" review from LTT, as I need to get a better setup as my damn expensive surround setup i have stopped working, but only on some HDMI inputs, meaning the ports on the recevier is borked.. and that was a very exp model.. so it's time for a sound bar because I CBF messing around setting up another surround

  21. this is not just a soundbar ? deceptive

  22. Generally you would buy something that costs 4,000 dollars with around 4,000 dollars, but idk, that might not be how you spend 4,000 dollars on a soundbar because soundbars be different I guess
    (idk I’m broke)

  23. I found the sound clip you used in recording the binaural audio and listening to your recording of it on the expensive stereo and it sounded way better than the original audio

  24. So can you tune/adjust this soundbar any?

Also the height channels are usually for bigger rooms right?

  25. That bar is great but it's overkill. And lots of owners will not be blasting it that loud if they're in a shared apartment.

  26. No more mullets please (content and people are great) mullets are never cool

  27. 1:11 ah yes thank you very much linus I will do that

  28. Nakamichi is now a CHINESE brand. What do you expect of them – honesty and transparency?
Even the founding family (in Japan) don't want to be associated with the brand anymore.

  29. All that money just to listen to low bitrate YouTube videos. Just because you have money doesn’t mean you’re actually smart.

  30. Should have used the THX sound

  31. Please start doing underrated Hi-Fi setups reviews from the likes of Focal, QAcoustics, ELAC, KEF, Polk, and subs from brands like Rythmik, Arendal, SVS, REL, Speakercraft

  32. When he mentioning DIYing a ht system, I was thinking about how much work that would be to make all those speakers… nah, buying klipsch is not diy, lol.

  33. You're not missing anything if you haven't experienced theae expensive sound setup anyway 😆

  34. You have it sitting on a keyboard stand. It’s too tall to sit in front of a tv without overlapping the screen. Big fail

  35. I've got a Sony HT-Z9F plus rear speakers. It works good enough for my flat, the only issue I have is wireless interference form time to time causing the sub and rears to drop out but still a great system

  36. There is no replacement for displacement. I have two OG SVS SB 2000's and I can feel that sub bass. You are not going to get that with those 8 inch woofs. Legitimately, you need a home theater that can get down to 25hz at least at 100 db with inaudible distortion to really have the home theater experience.

  37. new editer?

  38. The big problem with ATMOS is every release is at the mercy of the engineer. Some movies/shows sound awesome and you’re actually immersed. Others made so little effort you keep checking to see if you have the correct sound option selected. Same goes for music. Imagining can be an experience in its self or someone just collected a check because there’s nothing added.

  39. If you want the look of a soundbar, but the preformence of a full surround system, there is really only one answer. Which is to pair good tower/bookshelf speakers and a good sub with invisible in walls. I don't mean in walls. I mean invisable. Underneath the dry wall. That's what I have. I have a KEF compact sub(I forget the name, but it's the one with opposing woofers) and Buchardt s400s. Those are paired with 4 surround and 4 height channels of sonance invisable speakers. My living room looks like a nice TV/stereo setup, but actually it's a 6.1.4 surround sound home theater. I say 6 becuase there is no center channel. The buchardts have such good stereo imaging it isn't needed.

  40. I’d be curious to see how he felt it compared to the Samsung q990

  41. 4:44 Surround size does not matter. As long as they measure more or less the same, then the size and power of surrounds is entirely irrelevant. What matters A LOT more is placement.

  42. We NEED a Linus Sex Tips series…..asap.

  43. I love my dragon. My job moves me every few years so this is a great simple (yet pricey) to give great performance until I actually retire and go the same route with wired solutions

  44. Is there a good source for the Atmos tests that actually have the Atmos audio track?

  45. Would be fun to see a video comparing new speakers/receiver to older used stuff. I've managed to find some nice older speakers at thrift stores and I use an old thrifted receiver with analog input as an amp. I'm no audiophile, but this seems to be the way to go to get a great sound system for probably the price of a pretty basic soundbar/sub setup.
