Would you get the Nest 4th gen or Google Streamer? Also, what do you think of when you hear the word "streamer"
Im honestly hating my google home devices rn. At least the speakers are utterly dumb, and got dumber with time. Also hate having to say the quipo for every command, which is multiplied by the times it wont understand what Im requuesting.
Also hate the fact that its not possible to use the Nest Audio to play my Chromecast's sound like you can do with the Echos or the Homepods.
I still use the original Chromecast when I travel. I can watch my shows on the hotel or Airbnb tv. I'm not signing into my account on their TVs. This new streamer thing is a bit big to travel with.
No matter how hard you will try to bend the reality in this paid commercials (why this video isnt tagged as paid?) regular people dont care about AI.
I just hope they add a screen reader to the nest thermostat for Visually impaired and blind users. They could dominate that market if they did. The fact they haven’t made it accessible yet is a real shame.
Although my shield pro has been doing great it's so old and Nvidia won't be updating anytime soon with all that AI money. Would be great if Google or someone came in and made a premium device
Dang. I really like the look of that nest thermostat. Im starting from scratch.
Google streamer, yeah i might get this too, im on diy train and i find the content i want to watch most is on YT.
I look forward to your vids on these products.
Really surprised, amazon hasnt tried to improve twitch to have more YT capabilities or netflix purchase something to compete.
I think the Ethernet port on the streamer is a good idea, but it has followed the usual Google upgrade path where it is an incremental upgrade rather than a major upgrade.
I do like the new features of the new Nest Thermostat, but I don't think it's worth the upgrade over the previous model just yet. Improvements for sure, but like the streamer, it is more incremental than a major update.
I love my Nest now and this one is beautiful but damn that price.
Good for people who want to use nest for some reason, but still not on ecobee's level.
So all google did was get closer but not quite to their competition
The matter support is big
Never say Google can't cancel something. They have nuked way too many things that I once used and loved. No Google for me. I do appreciate the overviews, though.
Nothing scarier than an ai security camera. Now they are literally spying, analyzing videos, and converting it to text. Talk about a security nightmare. Now google or anyone who hacks your google account will know everything about you and your schedules. I'd still prefer a "dumb" smarthome that remains offline.
just create the automations in home assistant!
Thanks Reed.
I had a Nest and I loved it. When I moved to my new house, it didn’t work with my HVAC system. I can’t remember why it didn’t work. I have an Echobee and it is ok.
The bar is on the floor, for shame you seem to have become a google shill. There is nothing new enough in these products, all of these changes are things google should have implemented YEARS ago. 9 years too late, really disappointing to see how many YouTubers are more concerned with pleasing the company they represent than the consumers who watch your videos
Ecobee is still the answer as this is more expensive and doesn't provide any benefits as it can be connected locally to home assistant via homekit integration for a lower price.
That remote is badly designed for people who use reflex memory touch to push remote button as the top and bottom are the same shape. Sooo many times I pushed the wrong button when i grabbed the remote in the dark.
Good luck with people trusting that matter integration. Once the MBAs decide there is more money to be made with killing it an "update" will be incoming.
