Im guessing the that’s your thing wanting a warranty would be directly related to “marketing” strategy of all tech companies confusing the consumer with outrageous names xrt 83667492924proAI ultra for every other product
You are suggesting to build a credit card company….
The experience Linus shared with snapdragon is why so many use a Macbook except it's even better.
The rest about finder and storage etc, true but it's nothing they worry about. And finder, after enough time can work just fine.
57:00 i use both mac and windows yes finder is junk…
@47:00 AMD not making budget stuff and massive inflation on the top end. Classic enshittification of the product line & profit maxxxing. So many problems especially but not exclusively with monopolists and those in the making are in a new stage of the enshittification that began with Jack Welch and his ilk with the shareholder capitalism. Time to write some new laws.

2:21:00 This will NOT work. A notification will not work it will be easy enough for the abuser to explain away "oh just a bug." Mu h better for them to lose their recording capabilities… Put yourself in a non tech savy regular users' shoes, Luke

@41:20 the community notes issue with being a misinformation vector for those that eventually getting removed and people not being made aware, seems like there’s a simple solution send a message to clicked on the video while the community note was active.
Bring back web 1.0
I guess I’m old, but I hate phone notifications. I don’t know how somebody can have them going off constantly for two and a half hours without noticing it.
If we consider browser as a product, we might have to pay for it. But if we consider our data as a product, then companies will have to fight to obtain it and make the best browser and best search that everyone wants to use
The search thingie is so easy to solve. You just do this the way Microsoft did with browsers. You list the search engines and let pepole choose themself .
I'd rather be forced to buy the software and have the companies that provide the software be regulated hard from the pro-consumer perspective
Pricing structures becoming overwhelmingly 'free*' caused much of this tech dystopia
Also, arguably the stickershock of "3usd/month for a browser" is more telling of the insane wealth disparity. In a healthy economy, that shouldn't feel any more than maybe 0.3usd/month.
I would rather the companies be able to pay for pre-installs (even though I'm not fond of it) if Im able to completely remove software from my system without hoops. I find it frustrating when apps get forced onto my phone after updates after I've previously disabled/uninstall them.
Bug companies shouldn't be allowed to buy little companies at all not for little money not for billions of dollars. There are too much examples of this for every of the big tech companies. Or even if not big tech. Look at Disney.
To say it in other words there should be very much more regulation to big copetations.
But wait regulations are bad there in the land of the free. But even here in Europe,it is not really better there.
A company always should be sustainable of its own. I don't know if Spotify does make any money yet, but it is still not owned by someone else.
And yes all the streaming services are a god example when it's not subsadised. OK Amazon Prime is maybe a little bit different.
At 27:25 Linus is talking about how India coming online isn’t going to happen again and while I agree in terms of at once, there are still about 44% of the global population that are not online for lacks of infrastructure, economics, or governmental restrictions.
people: we want choice, google is too big
also people: we're still going to use google but we dont want to HAVE to
The reason some companies now a days can go into being a monopoly, is because those big companies are the one's who can afford most of the regulation. So they are FINE with it putting restrictions up there.
LTT Pen Issue: I love these pens and will order some more, but I recommend removing the o'ring and use some "purple" Loctite instead, one out of the two pens I purchased jammed as the o'ring got into the thread.
Luke explained my reddit behavior so accurately. I feel voilated.
