I have a 5950x and wanted to get a 4080 super is that ideal or no?
7950x3d + 4080 super = best gaming and workstation combo
My current GPU and CPU combination is the i9 14900k and RTX 4090. Coming from console to PC, I wanted the best performance compared to console and the best overall performance with no budget in mind.
Honestly, it'd be better to wait for the 9800X3D, Core Ultra 7 265K, 8800 XT, and 5070 for $2000+ builds. But if you're building a PC under $2000, 100% go for current-gen products because it'll be over a year before we get stuff like the RTX 5060.
I’ve got my 7800X3D and 4090FE on a full custom loop, built it about a year ago, and it’s been flawless at 3440×1440 oled monitor.
I'm looking at building a PC soon but the games I play are exclusively more CPU bound. Should I still look at balancing the CPU and GPU or should I skew it in favour of the CPU? I don't play any triple A games.

I am still on AM4, upgraded my 3600 to a 5800X3D which was heavily discounted and added a 32GB kit of 3600MHz RAM which was also heavily discounted and my GPU can finally stretch its legs. No need to buy another CPU for a while especially at 1440p and above. So many people over spend on their builds for that e-peen but nobody cares about your specs, considering I mostly play older games and mod shit like Fallout, Skyrim and play Brutal Doom in all its forms I'm set for a long time.
I can also take advantage of all my RAM for video editing and music production, so I don't feel the need to buy new shit just for the sake of it. The X3D chips are all pretty awesome in all their versions.
7900x (lucky score, it was cheaper at the time than 7800x3d by over £120) and rtx 4090 here – gaming at 1440p ultrawide.
