Awesome Tips I was SURE these were a scam

Seasonic makes some great, energy efficient power supplies. Check out their Vertex lineup at:

Have you seen these miracle ‘energy saver’ devices advertised online and dismissed them as a scam? The way they’re advertised certainly seems sketchy. Believe it or not, the theory behind them is sound!
They’re still totally a scam though.

Amazing Products 10 Essential Backpacking Gear You NEED

Comments

  1. ElectroBoom has already made a video on this product

  2. Techquickie posted on the wrong channel

  3. Can someone explain the graph thing it seems to have a lot of lore behind it

  4. Hold on Linus, surely you guys know this. That power supply has a power factor of less than one because of the harmonic distortion it produces. Its the power factor = 1/sqrt(1-THD) thing you will find on wikipedia. I don't think for the sake of this video it was necessary to imply that your power supply is producing reactive power.

  5. Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 loves you bro ❤️

  6. My dad recently got scammed and bought these I would show him this video but he probably still wouldn't understand 🙃

  7. Oh this advertisment has a video in it🤡

  8. ElectroLINUS

  9. dont open anything with a capacitor unless you let it discharge first…. even if these capacitors were fake

  10. 3:18 😉

  11. Can't believe these are still a thing. In the eighties, as students, we used to whack a big capacitor across an outlet to 'slow down our meter'. Didn't work then. Won't work now

  12. I bought a 2 pack to test, review and teardown..air capacitor..sand inside, only one wire was in circuit.
Now dealing with fake health insurance on a debit card..cr union says hard to stop payments.

  13. FYI: many times pads are not connected because the PCB pads are being used as a capacitor, as the end of the day, they are metal sheets. This is usually used for high-frequency circuits… So just because something isn't connected, doesn't mean it's useless.

  14. LOL subtle nickelback reference 😜😜😜😜😂 0:28

  15. This video is more sponsor than actual video

  16. If something is too good to be true… it isn't.
Even if the capacitor was real, it could do more harm than good. PC/ TV/ LED power supplies aren't inductive loads. And chinese LED's… oh boi… huge reactive power and they inject high frequency garbage into the grid (to the point where it might impact wifi/ gps signal)
Inductive home stuff is AC, fridge compressor, washing machine… and yeah they have built-in capacitors.

Where can I buy that Noodle-Bot?

  18. i knew this was a scam but the explanation of power factor was not clear to me before. now I know, so thanks.

  19. I knew all this, but then, I used to build power factor correction cabinets for industrial use; the caps in those were about the size of two large fridge freezers, welded together.

  20. I hate to be that person but I got to 2:15 and it dawns on me that Linus hasnt mentioned what the product actually is or its name. From watching the whole video we are told its the most important thing since the printing press and its a gizmo and a gadget, but nope no name and that its some kind of electrical device with a fake capacitor? So confused.

  21. Meh.

  22. This entire video was just a sponsored ad in disguise. The whole thing, was a "plug" (haha) for a power supply.

  23. At the turn of the 20th century there was a huge law suit between factories and power generators. The result was regulations for both power generation and almost all devices for fower factor alignment (current to voltage or power factor.) Thats why all your electric moters, for example, have capacitors to re-align the current and voltage (power factor)

  24. And I thought that they would only have an LED circuit in them… and I was more or less right. Though they spend more effort than I thought.

  25. The only real way to save on bills is to unplug devices and useless electrical items. Not by plugging more and waiting for magic to happen!!

  26. Suuuure. Save money on your power bill by upgrading your psu. Too bad you won't break even for on that upgrade for like 3 years.
