evnin. i have a 12900k coming and im going to use my deepcool castle v2 360 aio also have a z690 on the way and already have the 1700 bracket for my aio. upgrading from my i9 9900kf and faulty z390 mobo. my question is how much thermal paste do i need if the cpu is con-caved ? as stated in your vid. this is the 1st iv heard of it. i wasnt to worried about temps due to having plenty of air flow in my desk build with the 360 aio and 1 extra 120 intake fan and 4 120 exhaust fans but after watching your vid im a little concerned. your build looks amazing, hope you get it working ok.
I am really annoyed how that one CPU block from Corsair has such a weak pre-applied thermal paste on it and doesn't make physical contact with your Intel Core i9 12900K. I am sorry that this happened to you and Corsair are always known to sell one of the most top-quality parts for any build on a gaming pc, especially hardline custom loop liquid cooling, but it's unfortunate how they said that in fact it's happened before with the Intel Core i9 CPUs as it's because of their size.

It's funny when I was watching the last video in the series I literally thought to myself, "you shouldn't use the pre-applied thermal paste" lol. I genuinely never would have thought it would actually matter though, that sucks so much!

Yeh I mean that measly amount of thermal paste was never going to cool a 12900k. Been putting together PCs for a long time and I think most guys would've told you to just drop some thermal paste on that IHS. EK will literally give you a tube with their CPU block because they just know pre-applying anything is going to result in problems. I know you probably followed the instructions and did everything right but sometimes dude you just have to use common sense with these things.

I always use Thermal Grizzly thermal pastes on all my watercooling builds I would Highly reccommend you replace thermal pastes in future with Kryonaut.
Got the same cpu block and i wiped that preapplied crap off before putting mine on lol got a 10900k oc at 5.2Ghz sitting at 60c under full load
Maybe next time you can test it first with soft tubing and later, once everything works as intended, do the hardline.

Have you considered that the pump you're using doesn't have enough head pressure to push water through 2 360mm radiators, a GPU, an SSD, and then the i9? Maybe you needed the bigger pump given the size of the loop?
i really do think you really should replace the IHS with Rockit Cool IHS. i replace my HOT 9900KS it was doing 95c easy. After i switch my cpu temp set around 75c

Why are eccentric lights and fans and stuff so appealing to people? Its like wearing those light up shoes from kindergarden…
Sounds to me like you did nothing wrong except trusting the cooler manufacturer's thermal paste. The manufacturer needs to do better. Hopefully you exposed a huge flaw in the production of these coolers and they correct it. This type of thing would make me never trust pre-applied thermal paste especially on such a high end build. Better to have the piece of mind. Beautiful build but really bad luck.

A CPU with a concave IHS is a CPU that needs to be RMA'd.
you should put all radiator fans on intake if you want better thermals. feed the rads with cold air. also, thicker rads would help. a 30mm 360 rad is basically the same rads on aio's.

Hey I just bought a Ryzen 5900x with an RTX 2080 super, 32gb ram & 1tb ssd and 4tb hdd with msi x470 gaming plus mobo. He told me I’ll be set for years because it kinda overkill and It’s a high end pc. Did I get ripped off? Is these good specs? It’s my first pc and I’m planning on doing heavy gaming and a few multitasking.
I have seen people lap their cpus to get rid of that high spot and the thermals are way better without having to make a b day cake worth of thermal paste .
