This challenge took a lot longer than a month because it turns out the B580 is a perfectly cromulent graphics card, provided you’re pairing it with a capable CPU. After 30 days, David and Plouffe just sort of kept going, but did either of them keep the Intel Battlemage GPU?

The poor screen capture performance we attributed to the Arc GPU may actually be caused by a Windows bug affecting systems running Windows 11 or Windows 10 24H2/H4. Discord screen sharing, in particular, can break due to changes in window capture handling. Intel reached out and confirmed this information as well. Thanks to @スパーキンアッシュ and others for flagging this.
Ode to a graphics card purchase that doesn't make me feel like I'm bent over a barrel without arms or legs.
00:09:20 I often have audio issues on Win 11 nVidia GPU. It struggles when there are more audio output options (Bluetooth, HDMI, DAC/AMP).
I have two laptops one AMD + nVidia, second Intel + nVidia and both have issues.
It's worse on Win11 then Win10.
I wouldn't touch such weak GPUs with a 10 foot pole
CPU overhead?
The lack of direct VR support is my only issue with these cards
1k likes and linus will give me brand new gaming pc | i hope linus admin will reply "bet"
I wonder if people are ever going to realize 4K is a meme.
I still run 1660ti in 2025, and it still runs fine I only play Minecraft with shaders. Lol
9:12 shoutout to juggy, great videos
Arc A770 user since launch here. Do not use low power or efficiency mode in BIOs and Windows. No Blue screen and all.
I haven't been impressed with modern graphics after they peaked with Crysis. Other than interesting art styles, improvement in graphics just haven't given me a tingle in my dingle.
Ive mainly been a laptop gamer since 2008 since I travel a lot. Because I keep my tech for a long time, the "hack" I follow is to pick an upper mid range spec with a lower tier resolution screen. The screen specs are usually better than the top tier one (refresh rate, brightness, etc) and it allows me to run games longer, I just go from high settings to medium. Still looks great and performs well too.
Is it worth upgrading from rtx3060 12gb ?
me using 1 GB VRAM with my GTX 750 oc (overclocked from factory) lol
I wish the Arc cards worked better with older hardware, I would love to throw one of the new Arc cards into my desktop to replace my tired 1060 OC but at this point, I just need a whole system upgrade that I can't afford lmao
I think Nvidia's product is superior in every way besides go to market practices. Intel has a lot to catch up to do, billions of R&D behind. Nobody really buys into the quality is overrated argument, that is really quite inauthentic coming from enthusiasts. The real issue here is ethical. When the market leader abuses its position and behaves like a greedy jerk it doesn't deserve to be on top. Irregardless of how good is their product. Nvidia needs to be humbled, like happened to Intel, in order to straighten up.
I think it's pretty impressive what intel has here, considering it's a second generation card.
Most people also aren't playing at 4k. I only recently started playing at 1440p when my old 1080 monitor died last year
Nice try Diddy, now gimme my high powered gpu back lol
So nice to hear people saying we don't need to buy new tech all the time just because its new or a bit better.
My awesome niece, who dedicated her 13th bday party to raise funds for the humane society animals, still uses a gtx1650.
Can the the poor kid finally get an affordable card ?
Just recently explained to her (way older now) to "just keep saving kiddo, cuz a b580 is $500"
such a shitty scene. msrp of 250 jokes
B580 + linux + 1080p you will live like a king for a tiny cost.
My 2070 has been enough for quite a while.
14:23 can someone tell me the game please?
I had no popping issues for FF7 Rebirth with A770 buuut I had to move the game on my main SSD which sits in my only pcie5 slot. Not sure if it had issues moving files between SSDs or if it the PCIe5 (both SSDs are the same except for size)… just sayin (edit: also it sometimes went close to 12 GB VRAM, so it may be an issue of low VRAM of 580 for that game, I have 16 GB)
So the end result is they became console gamers???
literally just run dual gpus with lsfg why has ltt not done a video on this people are wasting money or selling of useful old cards when they can just split the work load between 2 gpus and get stupid high fps with acceptable latency…or apu gpu combo
i miss 2019-2022 LTT and LTT from when they moved to the offices, this new LTT doesnt have the same vibe
This is like my situation
I have 1080p 280hz monitor
I have the money to by 9070xt
Then i was like "do i really need an upgrade?, seems like a waste of money"
Since i already can set every game that i play on ultra without any problem
Still going strong with my 2060. 1080p High 60 fps is all I need.
Where B770
Intel has had those laggy encode/decode issues since Alchemist launched. Lags when viewing photos, AV1 cpntent you record but other GPUs play it back fine and way more. You would think with how good quicksync is it would be better. What makes the issues worse is Intel says they can't replicate them. So here we are years later stuck with the same old issues on new hardware, what a fail battlemage is.
I built a B570 12400F computer for my nephew for 724 € including monitor (PSU and case not included) and it plays all the game that didn't run before due to the ancient Phenom II and it even plays minecraft with RTX textures. No crashes, no nothing. It's really competent.
2:00 this is incredibly true. These days we focus too much on graphics, causing a huge knock on effect that's been ruining gaming and game performance. When you take a step back, you realize you find more enjoyment from good art style than how much RTX and resolution you can shove in there.
If I didn’t play shooters, I would have bought one. They’re great at video and pictures!
If Intel had the courage to sell a "B590" card (imagine a B580 with 14 or 16 GB RAM, maybe a few more shaders), I'd buy one.
Imagine the ad "budget gaming GPUs, but no bottlenecks!"
Liked the longer outro, good idea when the conclusion is more of a conversation then yes or no
i'll buy that 7900 xt
I first realized that you really don't need to chase the best performance and quality to have a great experience right before the pandemic hit, which was great timing because it was also the same time I needed to upgrade and never would have found a high end GPU lol. I realized that playing FPS games in general was a horrendous waste of time when I took a break from the stress of them and a friend suggested we play Satisfactory together. God was I missing out. Games like Palia, Satisfactory, Valheim, Enshrouded etc. etc. etc. have been so much more enjoyable compared to the constant stress and push to maintain a high skill level to keep enjoying FPS games and as an added bonus I've saved so much money on not buying a new high end GPU every few years that I can afford to buy a new game every few weeks and still not spend as much as the GPU would have cost me. Medium settings and a stable 40 – 60 fps and you will have a great experience. I really wish I could go back 15 years and convince my 20 something year old self that FPS games are such a huge waste of time and that you really don't need the best hardware to enjoy other stuff lol.
apparently plouf and i have bever similar taste in games lol
Intel NEEDS to keep making these
I see intro I like I comment
Loved the format for the video; conversation between the two and random interactions from off-camera
Somebody should start making 1080p 24 inch oled gaming monitors
Was really hoping for a B780 as the 12gb VRAM in the B580 just isn’t enough to be a viable upgrade path from the alchemist series
2 people running a 1080 ultra card at 4k low, worthless feedback
This video is incredibly tone death. Really guys you needed to be forced to use a less powerful GPU to realize gaming you possible without a computer that costs more than 50% of people in this planet makes in a year? Before that you really think everyone playing these games are doing on a 4090?
The information in this video, and core message is great. But all the "Omg, I didn't even realize you could play games without being rich and having a new 2k dollars computer. Amazing." This is not an attack, but you guys are so out of touch about what is actually "normal" anymore. B580 btw is a better GPU than 95% of gamers have. A 3060 is better than 80% of gamers have.
I'm playing games on Intel HD Graphics 620 at 720p resolution, and I would say that I still have the same fun as 4K
9:05 tau gaming.
More importantly tho I have had the same problem with new recruit on a GeForce card
"things can look a certain way and still look good" … Yeah i agree and i still game on a Commodore 64 ! So many good games.
RIP B780/B770, i really think intel made a huge misstep here. I think a lot of people are interested in these cards, they just want a little bit more performance especially if they are upgrading from a more recent card.
