If You Want To Help The Channel, AND get yourself (or a friend!), a kick ass mousemat, please do so at the sale price HERE: https://pccentric.junipercreates.com/ (I have no control over shipping prices, as they are air shipped)
I feel like I am watching this on 1080p even though I have a 4k display and chose 2160p quality. Don't know if it is the way you upload your videos or it is your camera
I really wanted to get one and I live in Malaysia , but the shipping costs soo much. Much more than the actual product
I love the component city design the best. I would absolutely buy that one if given the chance.
Sorry that the venture didnāt work out. Sadly your designs are not to my taste. As Iāve matured Iāve come away from all the RGB and bright colours and now prefer a more subdued colour pallet. Keep up the good work though. Itās good to see more brits doing tech/computer videos and keeping focus more on this side of the pond.
just not a fan of the neon sunset. the component city one i would of jumped on straight away
Colour scheme and design wouldn't work with most of the set ups. Plain black or gray herringbone with your logo in the corner would be bangers.
It would help sales if the discounted price didn't jump to £28??? Trump Tarrifs ???
I was probably one of those original handful of orders. The shipping and VAT made it a Ā£40 mousemat. I purchased it anyway to support the channel, but the bulk of that cost isn't getting to you, and it's excessive – the only people buying Ā£40 mousemats must have more money than sense. I collect anime mousemats and I usually spend less than Ā£15 plus shipping from Japan. The only expensive mousemats I have would be ergonomic with an anime character on them… but that's so niche that you accept the cost for the merch.
It's not a bad concept, it's just not an appealing design with the polygon based sunset.
I wouldn't necessarily give up on the idea, I'd personally make it more PC Centric themed and what I mean by that is, people watch your videos for the education of PC's and their mainstay components.
So perhaps, making your mousepads educational is the direction to go? A nice layout of the internals of a CPU and text off to the side of what each sub component does. This could be any component and if they match nicely enough, they don't even need to be on a desk, they could have small holes in the corners to allow them to be hung up in an office and easily swapped out.
Sorry it didn't work out this time.
In honesty despite the decent design I still assume these are fairly generic mats beneath the design and I generally prefer āhigherā performance mats even if thatās a falacy.
I already have a mouse mat
Hello, firstly I love your videos and I do think your mouse mats are very cool! If I was new to PC builds and making my first gaming PC I would 100% buy one but the reason I wonāt is simply because I have my own mouse mats already that is very cool! I would probably buy pc centric merch like at-shirt or smoothing like that but I just donāt need another mouse mats when my existing one is great! Once again I love your channel!
I really wanted one. However, I already have a really nice mouse mat. Also, even though it's on sale, the postage is £10, so it still ends up being almost £30. It's sad really as I really do love the design.
It's a niche design that doesn't suit all desk setups
The trouble is the design is boring and colour's weak thats why is hasn't gone well. Quality looks good ,but they're are so many people doing mouse mats now, and thats what your competing against.
I think it's a combination of things. You choose a design that you like, which is perfectly fine. But probably isn't going to scream out to the masses.
And tbh, it's too expensive. Once you add the high shipping cost, and the VAT (which is always extra annoying when added at the checkout) The total price is pretty high. There is also quite a bit of competition in the market now.
Still, kudos for trying, it's more than most people do. Maybe you can rethink it after some feedback and go again….
Surprising your merch didn't work out considering much smaller channels have success with their merch. I honestly didn't buy it because the design was too bold and bright. For PC gear, I like it to be pretty minimal and clean.
Generic mouse pads just don't cut it anymore. Irrelevant of design. Its a world where performance is key. I have artisan pads for performance at high levels. A generic mat doesn't give you the same surface feel.
Techsource offer more Variety and better Quality Mousepads you can ask for his advice
The Colors don't match with most of setups
It's a niche colour scheme but done tastefully for those into that scheme. I personally like it, but the size is the issue for me. I prefer bigger mats to cover more desk area.
Ive considered buying one of these for ages I like the design but the SHIPPING to the UK is £10 which is the only reason i didnt pick one up. Ive just looked again and including shipping at a discount this costs £30 its just not a good deal. As much as I would like to support the channel im not paying so much for shipping.
I really liked the design. I even looked into buying it but it was just too expense to ship to Canada.
Do you ship to Australia bud?
The design is kinda meh get better designs u will sell more sure
Sorry, but nothing beats the SteelSeries XXL Qck Gaming Mousepad. Would love to support you, so get different items š
Personally think itās ugly, I pretty much solely use artisan because the quality is just so much better than anything else, These generic surfaces are so bad for performance. Iād never buy this kind of thing.
We would love to buy one, we don't have room for 29" x 12" mouse mat … its just too big for our space ….
That was hard to watch. Sorry try not to let it get to you.
Finally, a chance to use my marketing degree on youtube! š ignoring pricing and shipping etc because "make it cheaper" is the obvious no brain answer if you just want to move more units of anything on the planet & "there's no such thing as a bad product, only a bad price" blah blah blah also "the space is too crowded" is just self admitting your product is inferior, essentially saying it's not even worth putting in front peoples eyeballs and letting them consider your product over the other options… ok so it might seem obvious but the first thing to think about is WHY… why buy your mouse pad instead of a competitor? especially a far more popular brand like razer or one that's sponsored by a pro player? are you betting on people going for the design alone? or do you want people to buy it because they like you personally & your channel? is it a genuine product effort or is it merch? if your answer is "both" then that's your first issue, once you've made that choice then you can move on, if it's a genuine product and you just want people to go for the design then you definitely picked a rather unsafe one, especially if it's the only design you're offering, of course with marketing comes market research so you definitely want to do a little more research on the colour scheme of peoples setups as well as checking amazon to see what the top sellers are & even ebay charts to see what's standing the test of time and re-selling very well, personally i don't think you will find many if any designs with a colours scheme quite this bold up there, not to mention the actual design is quite generic, i can type "retro sunset" or "synthwave" into google images and instantly be presented with 100 similar designs that all look much more appealing and less generic at first glance (apologises if you made the design yourself lol) …NOW if this is not an actual product you want to keep in production & it is in fact merch… chuck everything i just said out the window lol in this scenario the immediate issue i see here is not with the mouse pad at all but rather with YOU, what is that logo in the corner? that doesn't mean PC Centric to me? what is this design? this doesn't stand out as PC Centric to me? what are these colours? they don't immediately scream PC Centric to me? you (or your channel) have very little to no recognisable branding, i've never seen any of the above on any of your social media or even in your videos really, maybe a glimps of the product here and there, maybe a cheeky wallpaper on a new build but you will need to go a lot further than that if people are to associate this design language with you and make them want to buy it… i understand not all of this is pleasant to read but it's an honest professional opinion, of course i wouldn't normally say all this for free but your video seems genuine & your channel has helped me quite a bit over the years, i hope this finds you well.
i love the second one you showed but sadly i only see the main one
agree with many of the comments, YOU love it but IMO they aren't designs with mass appeal, and mouse mats are available EVERYWHERE.
Iām just not a big fan of that design but if you drop that component city I would for sure buy it
I like the designs, but I think the color scheme is maybe an issue? I have a black themed setup and I wouldnāt mind these mousepads as they look pretty cool. However the color scheme is a lil too colorful for my setup and probably most other peopleās setups as well. Maybe try basic white and black designs?
My opinion on the mousepad is that it looks way too generic. Thereās nothing, in my opinion, about it that tells me itās a āpc centricā mousepad or something thatās related to the channel. It looks very generic and bland, and makes me think I could find something similar on eBay or aliexpress for a cheap price.
I personally didnt get one as i am more of a minimalist i just get like fully black ones, Hope this helps.
I think the design looks great. I also think that it is a VERY niche image. I don't think there are many people out there who want to decorate with an 80's Miami Vice aesthetic. I wouldn't pick this and I love the design, it's just too much for something that dominates the space I sit at all day and night. This is why they don't push neon green interior housepaint at the home improvement store. Waste of ad budget if you're unlikely to sell more than a couple of gallons that year. This is also why it's unwise to buy a Ferrari in an obnoxious or unusual color. Getting a car like that from the factory in baby pink metallic triples the rate of depreciation if you can even find a buyer. Most people are not daring when it comes to style. That is why we can even identify a "trend". Bucking trends is a risky venture at best. Success at that is like winning a lottery on top of all the hard work and effort and talent.
Did you do social media market research on which design to use? Before making the product decision? A YT poll, Survey Monkey, Google Forms, etc would have made a WORLD of difference. I liked the basic, plainer design #2 and probably would have bought it. I think the "plainer" design would have had broader appeal. Mate, I just really don't like the design you chose and wouldn't want to look at it every day. I DO respect that you made it and like it, but it is more polarizing and less broadly appealing to many probably. HOWEVER, the real answer would have been to do product design research on your mousemat, not of just a few yes-men friends either.
Think of some stupid features you have seen on some PC cases. They come from not doing research and not knowing the customer. I think the Corsair Frame 4000 is probably a good example of a product that is designed by customer research, for example.
I think you have an amazing product, at an amazing price. Sometimes it just takes time for a product to catch on. Marketing is an art form all in itself. If you can manage to keep the product available without costing yourself too much overhead, that's what I would personally try to do.
I liked the retro city mouse mat but I personally wouldn't buy one because I just honestly see no need, but if I did then I would buy it. And I sort of think that you kind of made too much retro stuff, which is specific to retro themes. Maybe less retro and more modern. Idk, I'm just the viewer, not the designer.
Heres my problem…I am very attached to my mousemat (with RGB and a Masterchief theme with branding that matches the rest of my setup). So I am allready a hard sell. I still like your design, it's bold and nicely retro but I prefer your channel by some margin. While the mouse mat thing has not met expectations you should be very proud of a dam fine channel. The content is excellent, you inform and entertain with a slice cheeky humour and your knowledge and expertise brings me back for more. You are right to try new business ideas but most businesses fail. You have achieved expert level in you chosen field but I am willing to bet it took 15 years or more of learning and effort, product design is no different.
That circuit board design mousemat is so much better imo as it seems symmetrical so not a big deal where the keyboard covers. Didnt even realize the main one had circuit boards in them, theyre hard to see in the pictures and even here. The third one is also really cool, I much prefer those two designs to the one youre selling and would buy one of those two designs. Again I'd much prefer a smaller size mousemat for just the mouse though.
