this is the most real thing ive seen all day, just 2 days ago i tried to install windows 11 on my dell optiplexx 9020 without the proper support and it almost cooked my drives but i did get it to work agian but im still stuck on windows 10 after 2 days of trouble shooting so yea im definetly not trying to install windows 10 on non supported hardware
I once spent 3 months with a computer that “didn’t work” because the bios was so wack with my monitor that I wouldn’t even bios flash it because the screen would fade out. I tried to replace as many parts as possible without working. All I had to do the whole time was go and plug it into a tv to install windows before plugging it back into my monitor for it to work flawlessly. What a wonderful first experience with building a pc.
Troubleshooting and the front panel connectors
Xmp and memory stability issues suck. They're relatively common especially when a memory type is new or you are pushing the limits of what is recommended. Plus they can appear stable until you eventually run a workload that ends up being demanding in a specific way.
I hqte the power button and leds audio pins, its always diferent from motherboard to motherboard
Worst thing is when you're cleaning or disassembling your PC and then go to turn it on afterwards and nothing happens.
Just missing the certified software is why never build desktops. Or when the gold contacts just wear off, that sucks.
Am I odd in that I enjoy troubleshooting and fixing it?
I hate when my server fans spin up so high my ears bleed.
Sponser in a short? Disliked.
Brooo 100%. The worst is when you realize something broke and you have to take it all apart and restore the original build
i feel that…especially when that realtive goes on about "i thought you were good at this!
Geez Aunt k, atleast i am doing better then your last couple of marriages
I just hate that there's always a case wire I missed or connected somewhere wrong. Like the power button won't work or the fans don't spin up, or whatever… It's always something I screw up!
Yo Linus Day 1 of "uh 5k likes and you build me a pc?" hehehe…
i am the reverse i do not actually like building the pc i like troubleshooting it
but….they always work….
i hate seating CPUs. Always will, especially when they started putting the pins in the socket
Relative who only talks to you when they need something describes my children.
Troubleshooting is the most satisfying part when you finally make it
Especially when it wasn't your fault in the first place
HOW TF DID THEY MISMATCHED THE POWER AND RESET BUTTON OF MY CASE
What is there to troubleshoot? Building a PC is literally just slotting four components (CPU, RAM, GPU, SSD) into a motherboard.
Oh ADHD brain…
Feeling defeated knowing you need to do more…
I dont like troubleshooting, but i do find it rewarding. Having that 'Eureka!' moment when you fix it and the ego boost of knowing you understand more about the system you're working with is SOOO satisfying.
I hate the price. PC gaming is dead.
Rebuilt my computer. Will not post. F*$%! Dismantle, reassemble, nothing. Tried everything. Ordered a beeper. Turn on for beeped error code. Started immediately.
Honestly Linus that's close but the worst for me is friends/family/acquaintances talking about a new PC for ages. Say they're gonna get one and ask for help then go 'hey I bought XYZ from these guys can you help me set/fix it up'. Nothing makes me angrier especially when my mother did it with a new laptop that even has a factory locked down BIOS.
Honestly same. Its at the point for me that i havnt even built my first one let alone putting in a couple of unique parts😂😂
I hate doing the front panel wires
I find if I don't drop components, everything works first time
Buying the stuff
I'm the opposite. I don't like or dislike the act of building the computer, that just is what it is for me, but I actually enjoy troubleshooting pc problems 😂
I had to fix a pc from my dads office and I actually had fun
Me too and I also hate setting it up. Hate Win reinstalls.
The worst part of pc building is coming up with the parts you want then seeing the price and having to pick cheaper ones instead
"As long as it works the first time" is it. I pray to the pc gods everytime i hit power for the first time.
Relatives only talking to you when they need help with tech is basically the same as only making shorts when someone wants to sponsor them 😂
You never put in all the screws. I've watched for years
My least favorite part is finding the time in my busy schedule.
This usually means I am starting a build at 2 a.m. and finishing around 5 a.m.
But the euphoria you get after it's done is surreal 🙌
I live troubleshooting broken computers! It’s my favorite part! Unless I have to spend money that’s annoying but it’s so satisfying when you finally get it back up and running
Totally agree
Its pure rage inducing when you have a software issue that you cannot fathom
And you eventually find the solution and it turns out to me the most random yet easiest fix.
Try rebooting GPU by Win+Ctrl+Shift+B
U can do this even while running the pc
No damage will happen
It fixes any issues related to your graphics card
