Yo, Listen, you hear that? It’s not killers in the jungle. It’s the rumble of the Bose Acoustic Wave Cannon, an absurd looking subwoofer that we just had to check out. And of course we compared it to some other great subs from the likes of Mackie and SVS. Is the tube a glut of wub dubs? Or did we just waste our money?

what if you change speaker from cannon to modern high quality driver? would sound any betteR?
The reason bose uses balance inputs and unbalanced outputs is that the system is receiving inputs from longer distances so you need to cancel the noise out. While in the outputs the longest distance you're normally going is mostly up to 6 feet so noise isn't much of an issue at that distance. Obviously, if you were outputting to baffles or other great distances noise would be an issue and you would most likely consider balancing again!
You guys should experience the holy creation of thomas alfa edi sound horeg speakers!
The DMS speakers look just like the ones that guys would sell out of the back of white vans!!!๐
Yay you're finally getting into the audio side of gear. this is a good start but come on that is a very wimpy woofer. Someone show Linus a photo of some REAL bass horns. I want to see what he builds.
I mean… Anything Bose is overpriced garbage. That's nothing new.
Yeahโฆ..without the Bose DSP, this is gonna sound like ๐ฉ.
Iโve seen these installed in quite a few small clubs in the 90s and early 2000s. Good for small enclosed event spaces.
Sigh, these were used in movie theaters in the 80s. They put them behind the screen and if I recall correctly there would be several and they weren't all the same length. These were only for under 100hz. If you are Gen-X think back to when Jurassic Park first came out. Recall the sound when the Brachiosaurus landed on its front legs after the first reveal and the roar of the T-rex later. That deep thumping bass was made by these Bose audio tubes. These aren't meant to 'sound' as much as they were made to 'feel'.
@4:46 Could have they not put an actual XLR port on it to avoid paying licensing?
OK, so 80s speakers weren't that great? Put a modern 12" sub in the tube!!!๐
I have a single 12 inch SVS Sub in my Home Theater Setup and it's awesome. Do I want to have & experience multiple 17 inches? Yes. Would they vibrate the house into pieces? Probably
Please don't do this. Low frequency is incredibly underappreciated. You can not use normal earplugs or sound protection to preserve hearing. The resonance can still cause physical harm to the inner ear!
I remember seeing one of these on the ceiling of a Fryโs Electronics and wondering what the heck it was
Its just a bass tube. these have been arpund for bloody ages. Sound cannon my ass. its just a bass tube, you can diy this easy. I doubt its really bose. more like blows.
The huge 17 inch sub drawing 6000W would be equivalent to 25amps at 240volts. I think the normal home 240V circuits are rated to 30A (US idk about elsewhere). Do people installing these things literally do dedicated 240V runs for each one of these? Do they do a more commercial 50A run and power two? Four of these things hitting peak draw 24kw or the equivalent of a 32 HP ELECTRIC MOTOR?!
my neighbors must have one of those.
Subwoofers generally stay at the corner of the room as you're meant to feel the bass and not listen to it so putting subs at the center is just a joke and that's why even those SVS subs will perform better at the next room from where they are tested from.
use headfones + apo = that bose pipe is doing better!!!!
The guy in the white T-Shirt is so stupid, he's on the level of fart jokes IDK why.
Stick a massive spiral down the tube to direct the bass
Loved the video! Loved the technical comments!
Don't you have ANY other song than that crab-thing? There's plenty of royalty-free stuff available.
A giant vuvusuela?!
Guys u failed in testing all those sound systems there as you couldn't place them in a correct manner. That tube needs a wall to wall environment to build pressure. Like the content though
that shirt is cute!
Am I crazy or is DMS just like The Jackal?
"LOUD BASS WARNING"
My phone speakers: …
You guys don't even know, my dad's speakers are way louder than your dad's speakers!
13:23 you can tell, that man "enjoys" the ride.
I have 13 subwoofers in my condo. ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ I don't know maybe like 10,000 to 20,000 Watts of subwoofer…. In my condo.๐
2:54 โparallel portโ like on old printers
Try replacing the 80s cannon speaker with a modern one of equivalent size?
"This is the Bose Acoustic Wave Cannon system and its f@#$ing dumb" broke me. best intro of 2025
Speaker where not good in the 80s? I donโt think you have a clue what you are talking about at all. Top end speakers are still being sold that where first created in the 70s
โ70โs high fi, In most cases, isnโt as good as $100 speakers on Amazonโ.
I disagree.
I feel that this statement shows a lack of experience.
There are many speakers from the past including:
– Klipschorns, 1940โs
– AR-3a, 1967
– Infinity IRS V, 1985
Even run of the mill JBL L-100s from the 70s are so far beyond $100 Amazon speakers in measured performance such as frequency response, distortion, and SPL as to be a non-comparison.
And letโs not even get into a discussion around electrostatics from Martin Logan and Magnepan.
Do some googling or even simple ChatGPT research to understand where Iโm coming from.
And again, why would you post a video with broken dsp and not fixing it? That gives us zero real information about the actual performance of the tube. Low effort for LTT
Love the Matal Slug โRocket Launchaโ
adam's built like the jello from hotel transylvania
How can I get that in the trunk of my car?
I wonder why they did not mention the price of that SVS Ultra REvolution 17inch subwoofer, cuz it's 5000$ USD. XDDD
My collage film studies class had two of these, paired with a couple sets of Bose 901, along with a pair of Bose ps48 active sub woofers, best class ever especially with the silent films we watched ๐
If you had the 2nd sub to put on the other end of the tube, it would have probably blown your mind.
Without the 2nd, its rather useless honestly.
Those early 2000s Bazooka Bass Tubes worked kinda the same way… you didn't need big power to make a lot of boom.
Revisit this but see if you can build a better one for cheaper
Guess what Kenyan matatus have these sound systems and they use 4 sub-woofers in one matatu
