A viewer messaged me after they were scammed out of their hard earned cash over some fake speakers. I said not cool. So I bought the speakers from him to show you how this scam works and how to avoid it.

Did I just watch a sponsored ad spot, or a part of a movie, I just can't tell anymore. Riley's ads are the only ones on YouTube that I actually look forward to watching.
What’s up with Linuses teeth?
These ad segments are even more unhinged than the scam they're reporting about in the video xD
Come for the video, stay for the ads
i wish these seller cross paths with actual audiophiles likes dankpods one day
Well how can you get unscam by Walmart themselves that they refused to refund me
Who's buying marked up projectors, the magcubic line is cheap direct from China yet so many local retailers ell the same thing for 3 times the price. 2 seconds in Google you find the AliExpress version.
My dad got white van speaker scammed but the thing ended up sounding as good as a cheap htib and even had RF rear surrounds. The speakers were these cheap towers and the combo amp/sub/interface was completely ridiculous looking with a fake tube amp diorama behind a curved acrylic window. Even the scams have suffered inflation.
The purpose is probably to trick those who don't know and make them think they broke it is my best guess
I want one. I mean, a Riley
lol all i hear the difference is the scam one is louder. I legit cant hear any difference
Best ad ever
The Riley ads have been amazing!
Garrett Claridge took a look at those white van scam speakers a couple of times
Why did it take you so damn long to actually open the box? Annoying.
when someone tried to scam my friend and me in the past with a similar scam (projector and speakers) they let him take the projector home to test it. I'd guess that's why it's a good idea to have them baseline work so they could seal the deal. we didn't buy it LOL
They look really similar to Bose Acoustimass Speakers… which in contrary to these have 2 speakers per unit, still one channel per unit, but two better sounding drivers instead of one fake and one working
I almost got roped into working for one of these companies several years ago when I was fresh out of college! I could tell how fishy everything felt when the interview was in a blank office out of a storage facility that had one filing cabinet, an empty desk, and only one fluorescent bulb dimly blinking above me! Then when they started explaining how I'd make money, it just felt like a Ponzi scheme! Wish I'd have reported them!
Some of those surround sets look like early 90s Bose LifeStyle 3 systems …. In look only
you told me not to scan it you said don't but the more you tell me not to the more I have to. 😱
The fact they advertise Wi-Fi channel 140 as 5.7 GHz support lol
These things make LAPTOP speakers sound good! 🤣🤣
What does the qr code do why not scan it?
as a french canadian I approve this
Rule #1 about people sellin shit in a parking lot: if they say a price, offer 10% of what they ask within reason. If they tell you to name a price, say 10% of what you think its worth retail. Either its fake or hot, either way never worth the hassle
Wheres the tariff for scams?

I did this once…the box and when looking it up all checked out the hardware matched but sounded like crap and had none of the features lol, glad I’m not the only sucker
I had some old pc speakers that could swivel like that in the 90s or 00s. Don't remember the brand, tho.
I can't believe the white van crowd are still pulling this crap at a time when many TV retailers will throw in a soundbar with a new TV and almost everything has a review somewhere on the Net. Want stereo ? Edifier. Home Theater in a Box still seems to be a thing, but I'm preaching to the converted so I'll leave it there.
They probably have stock molds at the factory that makes the knockoff stuff. So its less work to put in small details, I assume.
If I didn't know any better I'd say this was a Bose Acoustimass system with an inverted Subwoofer
They owner of Elysian is now hunting down the sales person who caused this damage to their brand.
Probably just going to change the name & box design, boom back in business.
So, part of the reason there is a product and not just a box of fluff can be because of whitelabeling.
It could be that the company that makes that speaker setup is a white-label MFG and sells the speaker kits, generic for companies to finish and brand themselves. Similar to how consumable product MFGs make the store brand equivalents.
2600 watts….ok…lmfao….
the thtory
I actually have the answer they use student projects to do the labor of mold making and design 🙃
Lol I always mess with these dudes they literally do not even come to the town i live in or the one next to it anymore I always go grab 5 of my friends and we drive up separately one after another acting like we are going to buy then we all rip open these boxes then say nahhh we are good after this happening like 5 or 6 times the last 2 called the police… luckily the police didn't want them around town either so they didn't do diddly either time
Obv you guys don't know Bose Acoustimass that well? (if you can't pronounce it, just sound it out, it sounds like "ass"). Those are near perfect copies…
AI LINUS LOOKS WEIRD
When I started watching I thought the scam was going to be real products – fancy arse speakers – but the scammer had opened everything and replaced the quality drivers inside the real enclosures with cheap ones, then they can keep the quality ones, or sell them on. That would be a real scam and impossible to detect until its too late. This seems more like counterfeiting.
Hey I was the guy who sent the Speakers, thank you so much for helping me, I really appreciate it.
How about a full on "unwrapping scam" series
It could have been useful to have a quick recap about 5.1, etc. and what it actually means. I think a lot of "average" shoppers may not really know.
Not gonna lie, that sofa commercial, having been placed into a video of scams involving hyperbole marketing, felt kinda off 🙂
Do a video of turning that into a PC?
