long before all this, i bought 32gb ddr5 for my new pc, but now i think i should've gone 64gb and then hold on for like a decade atleast
I bought 2x48GB DDR5 memory for €279 back in May. The same set today at the same vendor? €1379. Oh boy
Capitalism doesn't care about the consumer; never has. I won't say I know alternatives which are that much better, I mean it. But it is and always was a dirty game of shovelling money into few pockets which frankly doesn't deserve to be overly glorified, and I guess even im the fairly conservative realms of gaming, people must accept that. Rants aside, I am actually quite a bit worried that this whole AI bubble is gonna pop. I can well remember the dotcom crash in the early 2000s and it meant the end of many companies and a whole lot of unemployment.
lol , ram going up means cpu, motherboard, and case manufacturers get less sales . we are going to wait for windows 13 before upgrading . screw you money grabbers.

My ram was 180 dollers its now 800 freaking dollers and its sold out like thank god I got it early.
i have to buy some servers at work and the ram is the most expensive line item. might have to figure out how to compress ram.
Nice short. Now lets wait until about mid 2026 when the AI bubble pops, openai goes bankrupt, nvidia stock get decimated and Micron falls over. I am absolutely certain the flip-over will hit them harder then they can possibly imagine.

If you're after DDR4 or DDR3 check Vinted people selling parts from their rigs that they've upgraded seems to mean that there's a lot of cheap kits going for free

bought 32gb of corsair ddr5 a few months ago for £90, same kit today is priced at £370. "Doubling" is an understatement these prices are ridiculous

Its not more profitable than more memory, its companies ordering things from a catalogue where the middleman needs money on top of pricing things at a business rate which is always much higher. Well then yes it is more profitable.

Thank God, I just upgraded my motherboard to an AM5 and my RAM to a CL30, 6400mhz 32 gig sticks. I think I’m good for now. I’ll check back in three years. Got it for 80$
