  1. People are rightfully celebrating Torvalds as one of the best guests in LTT history

But something that gets lost among the well-earned technical admiration and dogpiling on Sebastian is that being funny is hard enough in your first language, but Torvalds is dropping banger line after sick burn for laughs like a machine gun in his second or third language. Technical achievements aside, that's incredible work from a tech lead and product owner!

  2. seeing Joshua clip made me sad ๐Ÿฅ€

  3. Bro did the initial commit and left.

  4. The face texture smoothening is very noticeable

  5. But did he make his own compiler?

  6. Tovalds stop this bullshit ๐Ÿ™‚ GIT has changed whole world of CV. To get a light you need a bulb and current.

  7. Microsoft: i lost because i was older and i got tired

  8. One of the most important people in the world, but acts like one of the bros.

  9. "The basic initial design". People don't understand how light years away that Merkle graph structure was from existing dvcs at the time. Also, the design constraints were so hardcore (iirc it was something like 1000 merges under a second) that no one was taking him seriously at the time.
He basically designed a CoW filesystem that works in userspace and those are the foundations of almost all software development today.

  10. that spare parts comment is insane lmao

  11. LTT gimme a pc

  12. Bring him over for another conversation,

  13. I thought he was going to say "it's like having a second child so you're first child has someone to play with" but this was another way to take the analogy I guess

  14. Should have shown a video of Lennox Lewis boxing to show Linux dominating.

  15. Thank you for showing us the way with open source software.

  16. Mr Tech Tips does know that Invisalign has existed for years nowโ€ฆ right? The braces make him look simultaneously 40 and 12

  17. Wasn't there a boxer called Linux Lewis? ๐Ÿ˜‚

  18. So many Linuses! Lini?

  19. Pochwalicie siฤ™ w koล„cu cennikiem RAV4?

  20. When I was five, my parents told me they had me so my sister would have someone to play with. Never did get any of that self-esteem people talk about.

  21. Real fear.

  22. Man yall need a better editing team for your shorts. Bro choose a cornball fight of the century

  23. I remember going to a computer convention cause my uncle was in it business and getting a Linux linguine plush years and years ago

  24. Agreed Lennox by far

  25. Humble genius

  26. I think what he meant was "im fucking old, this dude has the same passion and is younger go get it!" what Linus said was…. well just fucking insane.

  27. This was one of my favorite (real) Linus interviews. The funny side of him doesnโ€™t get shown much but the guy is hilarious.

  28. man i love linus torvalds he is like the cool cousin which who u want to spend ur time

  29. "with spare parts" is crazy

  30. Linus could have said "having a second child to keep the other one company" or something LOL

  31. Not sure those stock-footage b-rolls were the best idea. Love this moment from the video though.

  32. Love to see a conversation between Linus and himself.

  33. Humility is a beautiful virtue. We should all strive for it

  34. Torvalds' GIT crawled so that the community could run

  35. you should invite Palmer Luckey

  36. Torvalds constantly dropping bombs. Clever guy.

  37. The key is the final line from Torvalds. "Git was something I needed for Linux." He felt the available version management tools were holding back kernel development. So he created the basis of what he envisioned that tool should be, found a skilled maintainer who shared that vision, and went back to the kernel.

So if you have ever wondered why Git has the learning curve it does: it was created by a brilliant developer to work better with other brilliant developers. It wasn't supposed to be a newbie-accesible tool: it was and fundamentally still is a tool for experts to manage their projects and collaborate with each other.

  38. "i worry about you children" was nice ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

  39. anyone else on youtube? ๐Ÿ˜…
