Your RAM is cheating on you. You might think it’s working hard, but the truth is it’s probably going behind your back with bloatware you didn’t even install. In a time where every bit of performance counts, Linus finds out exactly how much those pre-installed “value-adding” apps are actually impacting your system.

Comments

  1. This is why I switch the polarity of my cpu bits with a tiny electromagnet instead of using a os

  2. crazy every program installed on windows we just expect bloatware and untick the boxes, this only exists on windows it's wack asf

  3. 7:41 Wdym Out-of-Box takes 2,5 Min to boot? 😅

  4. atleast those intel's E cores are there for something. should have done the test on an average gaming PC, i dunno i7 12700K? ryzen 5 7600X?

  5. Is it just me or the thumbnail looks like it was a ai generated thumbnail

  6. bloatware on macos would be intresting to see as a comparision

  7. ah the windows experience

  8. GIVE DATA NOW, WE WANT DATA NOW.

  9. A de-bloating app called "de-boomer", would be the most fitting name…

  10. Opening all these bloatware all at once when building a new PC, will be the new benchmarking

  11. Give data..we need data..and use Tiny11..please

  12. Dont you save settings to your device and then disable autostart? Also would you not have a mouse and keyboard from the same brand? So only one RGB software?

  13. world of warcraft level up sound mentioned

  14. AI Linus isn't real, he can't hurt you, "ONE WATT OF ENERGY" 7:48

  15. Linus is a person who would say yest to pop-up even without making a video 🤣

  16. I always find interesting how people can have like every single one of their apps on startup and think it's somehow good or normal how slow their system is to boot. I avoid installing everything I can and even after installing, I always set my settings to don't start up with my pc (screw you SOLIDWORKS and AutoCAD for opening some background things on startup). Even discord, Whatsapp and steam seem like unnecessary startup bloat to me

  17. 0:01 lochness monster cloud spotted

  18. I hate bloat ware

  19. It’s 10 pm

  20. But I wanted to see the idle ram usage change got baited in the begging

  21. 10:53 (bottom-left corner) i also forget that its 2026

  22. Music is so good tho !! 🎵🎶

  23. Tons of sponsor bloat in a video about bloatware… seems appropriate…

  24. I had a coworker lady in her 60s that installed so much browser bloat. We just factory wiped the PC and started fresh

  25. This makes me wonder how long a fresh install windows 95 takes to get up and running

  26. The past tense of "sneak" is "snuck", not "sneaked"…

"Norton 360? I don't know when that SNUCK in."

  27. still dont understand why it takes 2 minutes to boot debloated…. I know there's a bottleneck on the drive, but everything else is pretty close to what I got. I boot in 30 secs. 7900x,(cursury glance benches it pretty close) amd w7500, 970 evo,(about twice as fast) 32 gb 6000…maybe the ram? Didn't check usage so that'd be my best guess. but still doesn't explain….just weird….

  28. Few days ago I swapped from VS code (electron based app) to Zed (open source, and written in Rust) and the difference was astonishing, both in terms of speed and memory usage. Plus now I don't have to worry about running out of ram just because I forgot to close my IDE with just a few tabs open lol

  29. I've heard of a PC a few hours before this video that was so bloated, it took a glacial hour to start up while drawing 1.5kW.
Not to mention that it was so slow, their CPU was like a 20-year old one, and their PCIe Gen. 5 SSD was like a 1200 RPM hard drive. That shows how slow the PC was.
And 16 GB of RAM didn't help things, 'cause it was so full, it had to use even more of the SSD, like, all of it, as a pagefile further slowing things down.

  30. @linustechtips can you please debunk as to what's going on in a modern pc in idle using 4-5gb ram of 16gigs vs modern laptop in idle using 8-10gb of 16gigs it makes nosense in idle.

  31. Would love to see all the test data – I wonder how much of that extra power consumption was due to the hardware and/or RGB lights themselves. If you suddenly need to light up your fans, or power RGB keycaps or a Stream Deck that you didn't before, of course there's going to be extra power draw. No question that the RGB apps are garbage though.

  32. Nice 80s style montage!

  33. 🤖 "1 Watt on average"

  34. 12:29 six sevennnn

  35. Windows 11 with 15 GB RAM base load.
