How is it that Windows has managed to stay on top even though Linux and MacOS have gotten so much better? Well just because it’s on top doesn’t mean it will be forever, and we are noticing a pattern that MIGHT show real cracks in the Windows world and see Linux come on top

  2. I switched to Linux a while ago (first Manjaro but had to switch away from arch based because BricsCAD doesn't have a AUR package that works, now I've been happy with OpenSuse for the last days).
I feel like I've been having a similar amount of issues than I had with Windows, they just kinda moved. Though I am talking as a user who often fucks around in their OS I had to reinstall windows so frequently I kept one USB as a windows install medium in my laptop bag. Had to reinstall Linux only once and that was after fucking up the install somehow, probably because the usb with the Iso was corrupted?

Some things are harder, mostly commercial software is often not supported by Linux or if it is some things are just not polished and I do have to admit often the alternatives are not as good. Before I could teach with just Microsoft power-point and I could draw on my slides with my pen everything worked seamlessly with Linux I have to create slides export them to pdf and open them in Xournal++ where I can present and write.

Though the issues I had on windows had most of the time gone unresolved. For some reason my graphical interface would crash when I wrote with my pen in OneNote, haven't found an explanation so far, also my cpu refused to clock to boost in windows and also misreporting to task manager unless specifically being told so by a third party program I forgot the name of also no explanation found. (haven't had any of those issues in Linux)
With Linux it's usually easy to find the explanation with a fix though you usually have to look for fixes more often.

    so in short:
Windows problems usually: weird stuff that should not happen but do, no one knows why usually it's because some shitty code from windows.
Linux problems usually: program has been programmed for windows you can't use it, and if you can, It's just a afterthought so it's not well integrated. Also audio isn't working, type in that command in your bash then it works (no idea why that hasn't been setup correctly in the first place though)

  3. Hey ltt you should try the old mp3 play called a hitclip it came out in the early 2000s, it's what I had a kid

  4. biggest impact of last years it not mentioned at all…Windows server licences fell into nearly zero. It was competitive option, but nearly everyone now uses Kubernetes.
Linux was always used on servers, but small companies used windows server, it had fair share and IIS deployment was far easier. Now it turns to dust.

  5. as long as linux distros are made by people who don't go outside linux will never take off sorry not sorry but don't expect us normal people to have to use a terminal to complete basic tasks or try to figure out which subcategory leads to which subcategory and under which floating turd in this dogwater UI we'll find what we need to find what we need to find and no looking it up doesn't work because instead of "open control panel and press this" it's "open terminal no no actually open this no no actually maybe u'll find this actually last update it was changed to that"

  6. "Microsoft is FORCING me…"
This is enough to never trust Microsoft – this is reason why in todays world Gates would recieve brick in to face – not a pie.

  7. Windows feels like was designed by people who don't use their own product.
Windows 7 was fine, then they started to put crap on top of it to sell a new version.

  8. Longtime Mint user, just moved to Nobara on my main rig & Bazzite on my laptop and couldn't be happier.

  9. 'Upgraded' the surface pro 7+ with Win11 Pro. Finds out that Win64 takes 64GB of the 128GB installed RAM. Nice work .

  10. some people seem to think that by the end of this Windows would be dead; this will never happen. What I believe would happen is that in 10 years time the desktop os market would become more similar to the phone os market, about 50-50 ish split between two companies Microsoft and apple with Linux usage maybe increasing to about 10-ish percent,

  11. I just switched to Linux and am still learning stuff is the add supposed to be grainy?

  12. I guess the Mobile Market could be the Next Market sth could Change. Since I can think i am Using Android, but the Latest Updates let me think. I experienced once a Android where you can do whatever you want but now, if i want to side load anything it feels i need to break Fort Knox. Dont know if its maybe a Samsung thing, but after using an iPad for ½ a year (which was just bought due to the Fact it just costs 333€, an S10 FE 470 for comparison) it made me harder to Stick to Android. Not sure if its just a Samsung thing, maybe i give at least Google a Try. But yeah the Times where Android stands for you can do what you want seems to get slowly to an end. And with Apple having nearly the same oportunities, its just a matter of time.

  13. Competition is always good. Monopolies not.

  14. I've been a Linux daily driver for 6 years, I do maintenance for family and friends computers. I found myself installing more linux mint than Windows. I think in time if Windows loses more popularity it will be easier to buy a freedos pre-built or laptop.

  15. Windows… "How can we annoy them into giving us money?"
Valve… "How can we make the experience so good that people are throwing money at us?"

  16. Good lord. Linus is looking hench today! ❤

  17. Sorry but if Linux would be as interesting to rant about there would be much more news about breaking systems. I do use Linux since the 90s and man there are also a lot of flaws it falls just more under the radar also not every Linux based is like another.
The year of the Linux desktop won’t come.

  18. While i am happy that linux is getting more mainstream support i also worry that it will ruin it for the techies and the FOSS community

  19. Cheap pre-installed Linux PCs will change everything.

  20. I'd like to switch to linux, but I need it to run Adobe's programs

  21. all I'm saying is, the second my windows 10 install breaks for any reason, it's time for the switch.

  22. dude i never thought id say this.. i switched to linux after the crap they have been posting…. especially after all the surveillance and windows 12 being even worse

  23. 90% of America aren't bigots but I'll be honest light blue and pink idk man; good luck I guess.

  24. I am rooting for them to fail

  25. The iceberg missed some penguins.

  26. Whoever is responsible for the ads over the last few weeks is killing it. I've listened to more ltt ads in this short period than I have in years combined, and that's even considering how easy they are to skip with premium

  27. I don’t care if this is a year of… I grew to hate windows from the moment it forced me to change my pc, and then when it started becoming an advert board for booking and whatever clash games, and then asking me to finish setup every 2nd update. Then the updates started to become even more of a nuisance, up to the point of changing my settings, and causing crashes here or there. And then copilot started showing up everywhere, for no reason at all – and the quality of it was way below acceptable. And then I remembered that I used to play with Linux for last 26 years, and if Steamdeck runs the games I play, I surely can make a switch to it. And so I did – dual boot at first, but then after another update that effed up my settings again, and caused a boot loop, the whole windows partition went to the bin. I also deleted my Microsoft account, and honestly, I don’t care if Satya will come begging on his knees, there is no way I will touch anything from Microsoft ever again on my personal devices. Ever.

  28. no codes, no fuss, just free shipping. Are we writing adverts with AI now?

  29. 2:19 wish it was possible for people from Russia like me or Ukraine to order ltt screwdriver straight from your shop than some third party sellers for like 122 US dollars. Maybe one day maybe one day…

  30. I once dreamed of Microsoft launching their Linux desktop distro (Microsoft Doors or smth idk…)

  31. shocker, a laptop manufacturer (framework) who is focusing on the hardcore IT enthusiast crowd is outselling ubuntu versions of laptops over windows 😀

  32. 7:02 background music here sounds like something else 😅
