Comments

  1. Note 1 – When Linus is looking to the right of the frame he's actually checking the monitor for the top down camera to make sure he's got the controller in the right position, not reading the teleprompter (which sits on the lens of the camera) -DG

Note 2 – We mistakenly missed the scripted part at the end of the video where we talk about the release date. Valve's "add to cart" (or purchase) date is May 4th. -DG

  2. 7:09 Am I hearing Good Kid in the background?

  3. 13:30 YES!!! I've been saying the controllers get loose over time and that's usually what kills my controllers. It's when they too centring properly. The Joy-Cons are the only controllers to not get loose when they started drifting on me. It also happens much faster than other controllers.

  4. Well the one thing why im excited for the Steam Controller are the trackpads, which ive found SO useful on the Deck. So that means theres really no competition there.

  5. i asked a family member about controller price bcus i dont use em enough… he said the ones he paid for, (looked like sum white wirreles playstation/xbox controller…) cost him 150€ each… and they have less features… and there were 4 of em onda table….
im getting 2 steam controllers if possible, dont know how useful da trackpad is until u try em urself i think, sumthing that could connect with anything +fully rebindable buttons is always a + in my book

  6. Shockingly affordable?

  7. Plastic is meant for longevity. Rubber grips disintegrate with time, and they collect lots of dead skin. You also should shed light on the Steam Configurator. It'll let you do so much with the controller.

  8. why is good kid playing in the background of a linus tech tips video

  9. 7:01 is that Good Kid playing in the background :3c?

  10. Maybe I'm being stupid. But it was really distracting when Linus would look to his right constantly at the end of each line.

I'm guessing the prompter was set in that direction.

Not really a big issue but maybe something the production team could avoid in future videos. It really hurts the otherwise excellent production quality in LTT videos

  11. They compromised a lot to still have a 100 usd controller, that is not very good

  12. Hmm. It does look like it could be awkward to use the joysticks with small hands. Shame. The other features look great though.

  13. gamesir analog sticks are really good

  14. I have been waiting for a good controller with trackpads for YEARS. The cost does not matter. It's an entirely different category of product that currently does not have any real competition, therefore the price difference is irrelevant. I will never enjoy FPS games without a trackpad.

  15. Since when did you have to pay $100 for a cheap feeling controller? Oh right it’s okay because valve is selling it.

  16. Have you guys made a decision to boycott talking about Nintendo or something? Seems a bit odd to have a conversation about controllers without really even mentioning them. Switch and Switch 2 Pro controllers are really nice controllers. Xbox and PS5 have the most advanced controllers in terms of pure amount of features though.

  17. Disappointed you guys didn't talk about the fact that it doesn't include x-input meaning the controller only works on steam. It's a massive dealbreaker for many, myself included that wanted to use it as a "universal" controller

  18. I’m so happy you cheer for gyro! It really is the future and the new standard! I just love it, I can’t believe it’s taken so long. Take care guys thanks for the review!

  19. And as every other steam product I cant buy it in my region and I cant even ship to an other location with my account… I'd need to create a new account while using a vpn just to be able to buy these…

  20. Steam pad 1 , my worst purchase decision ever

  21. give me ; only the right side of the steam controller, with the option to set it to pointer mode (where u use it like a vr controller to use your mouse) and i'd have the perfect controller for when im using my phone+ Ar glasses.

  22. Don't care too much about the price or lack of 2 stage triggers etc. I loved the old controller despite missing two sticks at times. So this will be an awesome improvement. For me it's also more important to support Valves hardware and software.

  23. Linus, they called it "the steam controller" so that you have the opportunity to call it the "new steam controller" and when the 3rd version comes out. It could be the New new Steam controller.

  24. The companion cube shell is absolutely epic! I will have one if I have to 3D print the thing myself! 😃

  25. oh my god apex legends mention

  26. I can't really follow the price argument… like i have a Dualsense using on my SteamDeck when docked. And maybe it "feels" better (subjective as you guys said)… but a PS5 Controller is also already 75€ here, the Steam Controller is 100€. But i get better sticks (i already had stick drift on a previous Dualsense, so i had to buy a new one) and far better battery life (i kid you not, i have to turn off the LED strip on the Dualsense, so i squeeze out 1-2 extra hours, it barely lasts over a day). Also a charging station is kinda included with the Steam Controller. And let's be honest… i always turned the controller speaker off, since i found it distracting and never used the mic inside the dualsense to begin with.

These are really just gimmicks which drain the battery unecessary. I do miss the Adaptive Triggers a bit, but i would rather buy a Steam Controller for far better battery life and better sticks, then ever go back to a PS5 controller which gets stick drift after 2-3 years and the battery barely lasts 6 hours…

Also the trackpacks actually allowing me to play Crusader Kings 3 on my Steam Deck somewhat properly…

  27. Xbox x controler in lithuania 60 euros

  28. 8:21 try tropico it has built in controller support and is great to play from the couch.
