I am building a Dual Purpose PC right now as I have a grandson who is graduating and I am upgrading my working PC to 2026 level so he can segue into university work and have fun after hours. Ryzen 9 5950X/TUF B550Plus -WiFi II/Predator GM7000 2TB Gen4 & WD Black SN850 2TB Gen4 (running @ PCIe 3×4)/64GB-DDR4-3600CL16 RAM, and a Asus PRIME Radeon RX 9070XT GPU. I went to Micro Center & bought a 3-in-1 Bundle for $599.99 (Intel Core Ultra 7 270K+ ($109.50), MSI Z890 Tomahawk WiFi ($196.26), & Crucial Pro OC DDR5-6400CL32 32GB Kit ($294.23)). I added another Crucial Pro 32GB kit for $369.99 and I already have 4 M.2 ssds (Crucial T710 ($540), WD Black SN850 2TB ($125), WD Blue SN5100 4TB ($350), & Crucial P310 4TB ($242)), Lian Li Edge 1200W ($180), Arctic LF III Pro 360 A-RGB ($92.99), housed in an Antec FLUX Dark Mid-Tower Case ($109). In your opinion what is the best monitor to get for 4K bearing in mind? I still have my 49 inch Samsung so I only need a maximum of 32 inch monitor? I’d like to go for a 32 inch monitor at 240 Hz if possible.
I've decided to finally bite the bullet this month and am getting an 5080 / 9850x3d combo to build myself.
It's taken me over a year of saving up, a month of daily research and many hours of parts picking. This will be my biggest performance jump of any PC I've ever had, from a 1070 / 7700k 10 years ago.
Oh and I'm also jumping to OLED ultrawide just to make the most of it.
I would love to see you build a pc out of used parts you found on Vinted/ebay uk to see how much you can save and indeed if the parts actually worked. Could be quite a caper and be used as a guide to tide people over before buying brand new if prices ever settle? – Thanks for the content.

I've built a few PCs lately using the GOAT that is AM4. Pair a 5500X3D with a B550M motherboard and an RTX5060. Used DDR4 ram is readily available. You'll can build a great system without costing a fortune.

So happy I built my gaming PC way before the 50 series cards came out. I am lost in how people justify spending so much more than what I paid for mine, when I spent 3k. My PC built right now is $5,000. That's insane.

just bought my 5080 G757 pc yesterday for 2.5k!! Feels amazing so far
I decided to build my 1st gaming PC at the start of the year after being bored of PS5. Reckoned itd cost me around £1800 for a decent 1440p setup. Boy was I wrong. Spent 3k or thereabouts 😂 Ryzen 5 7600X, ROG STRIX B650E-F Gaming WiFi, Corsair RM850x Modular PSU, 32GB Patriot Viper DDR5 6000MHz CL30, XFX Mercury RX 9070XT OC Edition, Thermalwright Peerless Assassin & Hyte X50 Case. Also needed a monitor & speakers etc. At the end im happy with it though & played Clair Obscura Expedition 33 & now Crimson Desert.
Highly inflated prices not worth building pc at this point.
