The Steam machine is just a better all rounder , small, quiet, STEAM OS , controller antenna, for casual games it's probably better
It should've been 600$, but then the vapor contraption would've been too, still
Would be interesting to see they try also making it in a mallet form factor, since the steam machine was also constrained by the “console-like” experience

It’s last gen stuff… consoles have always been last gen, the only difference is they’re not subsidizing the cost, aka lying to the customer about how much the console costs to make, and it can function like a computer AND a console.

the big difference is the reason someone would buy the steam machine and not a PC is the same reason someone would buy an console and not a PC…. most console people don't want the headache of building a PC or of manually dealing with drivers and updates… sure the cost is a bit high but even the jank that linus built here will be more expensive soon… PC components are still going up in price not down… ram and memory came down a little bit but purely due to companies offloading massive amounts of backstock once that is worked through the price has no ceiling

8GB VRAM on even the highest spec Steam Machine is just disappointing. Thought they would've at least tried for 12GB VRAM. I get that memory prices are high rn, we all knew that; thought Steam might've had more of an ace up their sleeve than this?
