It doesn't affect me very much because I'm a pc player and it's being more than a decade since I bought a physical game.
That said Steam will be there for years to come (or at least until our lord and savior Gabe is alive), having your catalog change every console sucks bad, REALLY bad.

Why have they timed this with shutting down the PlayStation 3 and vita stores proving that these games are not going to last? What kind of crazy decision is that.

I only play disk because I can sell my games and buy new ones. Now I’m selling my ps5 and the disks tho
I primarily buy digitally nowadays but back when i had the xbox 360, ps3 and ps4; disc is all i would buy! Used to share them with my classmates too! It sucks to see physical media being abandoned like this 🙁
Love how they do "sorry, we are completely deleting your movies you bought on our platform from your library" and then announce "we are going for full digital games 🎉"
I'm glad i'm on PC, Steam always gives good pricing and if there's a game that has been delisted from every store i could just pirate them
That 85% – 15% figure Sony gave is heavily skewed. Apparently, that 85% includes not only digital games, but also DLC as well as microtransactions. So every skin that's been purchased in Fortnite and CoD is counted towards the total, for example.
Edit: not to mention all games that are digital only, like many AA and indie titles that never get a physical release.

Gamers love to parrot catchy phrases but continue to buy from these shitty corporations. Also valve has been this way for a long time and people love steam. Just feel like hatred is unequally doled out.
If you think that games will go down in price because is all digital ….no man they wont …..and the sales will go down because now we buy what we play…..lets say that i buy 100 games a year but i play the half of them because i am a collector too…now ill buy only what i play so they loose a ton of money from the hardcore gamers ….they suicide they will loose a lot of money
Glad I never owned a PS5. I see no reason to change that practice in the future.
Understandable that discs can’t handle these larger games anymore but at least give the people access to something similar to game key cards that Nintendo now use. Going full digital is just not the way to go.
the simple answer? bankrupt them. play pc. since they suck at giving discount the simple answer it dont buy. the last PS console i played was PS2. never bought any game from 3 to 5 even though i own them(free resold or gift to someone else).
Looks like the PS5 will be the last generation of PlayStation I will own.
Icl i love physical discs because of stores like CEX, where you can trade in games for a new game of ur choice and that shop is selling games cheaper then any official game store
