Don't know what the issue with pasting using the middle button is, i love it. It's a convenient way to paste highlighted text without losing the content of the clipboard.

Is it me or the UI menus and text in Linux seem blurry and not "clear" compared to Windows? Every time I see a video showing the desktop environment it looks off on Linux.
I switched to CachyOS a few months ago and while ngl it wasn't smooth sailing entirely at the start, (getting used to the file system structure and especially finding game files was the biggest growing pain for me by far) I'm a full timer and the only time I ever look back is when I run into a game that simply works better on Windows either through modding assets or whatnot – but I've always felt more patience wading through muck to fix those issues on Cachy than on Windows. I never feel like it's getting in my way. everyone who's worked on KDE, arch, etc etc etc etc etc are amazing. no shortage of incredible lil projects that address the exact kind of niche lil problems I run into. think there's a lot of charm in it for me that everything I'm using is a labour of love by someone else purely to break barriers, not to sell me shit.

I actually had a similar experience to Linus with the middle-click, but the other way.
I was already used to using it as a quick way to paste text without it sitting around in your clipboard (very useful for URLs, for example) and I middle clicked somewhere that could accept text and could scroll (text field in a webpage form maybe). I also happened to move my mouse quickly down to the bottom of the screen immediately after middle-clicking, and suddenly found I'd scrolled all the way to the bottom of whatever I was looking at.
It took me a while to find where I'd been and I wasn't happy about it. I was even less happy that everyone I mentioned it to just wanted to talk about how useful auto-scroll was and ignored or even challenged my frustration at that no being what I actually wanted to do! So I definitely get where Linus is coming from on this.
I would love to see a hybrid version of middle-click, that changed behaviour depending on what you were middle-clicking on, and whether you had text selected to paste.
When middle-clicking somewhere that text can be pasted while text is selected: paste selected text. When middle-clicking somewhere scrollable, that text can't be entered, and while no text is selected: auto scroll. When middle-clicking somewhere scrollable, that text can be pasted into, while text is selected: as per user-set default.
At the very least, it would be nice if middle-click options were easier to set system-wide, regardless of OS
For many and big files to transfer to Linux from my iPhone I use LocalSend. Working better than KDE Connect.

9:52 the scroll direction edit is on the wrong way. It literally moves the way you pull not the opposite, so the camera is moving left hence the arrow should have been left as well.
There is one thing I must share with you regarding the automatic scrolling: In KDE go to Mouse Settings -> at the bottom you'll find a tick box saying "Hold down middle button and move mouse to scroll". In my opinion, this is amazing. After some period of getting used to it, I now wish Windows had the option to scroll like this. Instead of moving your mouse to change the scrolling speed, you scroll by using the movement of your mouse. It's the same, but different. I personally find it so much more natural and especially precise then autoscroll on Windows. Give it a try and see whether you like it!
Been using Ubuntu as a daily driver for a couple of years now, and it just works! I've still got a Mac for photo editing, really need Capture One to make a Linux version, but other than that Linux is mostly seamless and a joy to use. I've worked as a sysadmin so I'm happy in a terminal, and it's notable that modern Linux desptop experience just doesn't need the terminal.
This video is a great validation for the vision and hard work that Valve and the Linux community have put in. Thanks to them all.
now i just hope that compatibility with Nvidia is arriving sooner….. PLEASE!
