I agree that these AI chatbots are bad at doing things like this, or at least large parts of it. I don't think the anger at some of the responses is doing much to further the critique of them. It's not helpful to pretend to be a complete idiot, like a computer is, and attempt to follow the directions GPT gave to the letter when someone confident or competent enough to build a PC would stop and ask clarifying questions, then if that didn't work, use the instructions included with the parts or perhaps even use their own common sense to fill the gaps. If I saw a IO shield in the motherboard box, I'd figure I would need to use it at some point as I did on my first build. Being upset at the order of installation of certain parts is absolutely justified. That was my main issue when I built my first PC on my own and something I would absolutely try to rely on an AI for if they existed back in 2015. My issue was definitely not PCI brackets on the back of the case or making sure all the cords were plugged in.
Your mistake was using ChatGPT, and not Gemini. Anyone googling "best gaming PC" or "how to custom build a PC" will get a Gemini AI Response at the top before search results, and Gemini's chat won't be limited. It'll still fail and give wrong info but I think it's the more common path most people would use instead of using ChatGPT.

It’s so bad! I tried the same… You pay for it and you need to teach it how it’s done.
It’s like Microsoft all over. You pay for a broken product and based on your trouble shooting they learn to make it better!

AI makes things longer if you have 1% knowledge because it tells you what you want to hear, not real information. Then when you question the answer, it says "You're right!"
Yet AI is suppose to replace a large amount of our workforce……………..
Will it get better? Maybe, but it's actually gotten worse IMO

I asked co pilot to do a build recommendation .. it was ok on parts with the caveat it didn't think a motherboard was needed as none was included or even mentioned required 🤨
when asked it gave this excuse …
"I didn’t list one earlier because the product data you triggered didn’t include any motherboards, but let’s fix that properly now." 😁
That ChadGPT thing looks good enough to use instead of talking to kids. I think every parent should give it a try

I used the same components as Linus when I did my pc build and I used chatgpt for it, it ended up taking 12 hours for one build

Gemini and ChatGPT are not updated, one time i asked about 9060XT and it said that card doesnt exist xD
Try the same with gemini. I have also noticed that gemini has come a lot more handy than chatgpt
