  1. Try Dashlane for free on your first device head to http://www.dashlane.com/pccentric and if you decide to upgrade to premium use my code PCCENTRIC for 25% off | AD

  2. I am currently running a 2060 in my desktop and a 3070 in my laptop (8 core cpu of course), and I got the laptop because of lots of traveling to university, work and much more.

  3. remember that in desktop you have to add at least 150$ for a 144hz monitor 1080P FHD

  4. What's the TGP of the mobile 3070s used here?

  5. why didnt u disable the laptop display while on the monitor

  6. That's some lovely thermal throttling…

  7. If you're going to build a desktop, you know the laptop and desktop gpu performance (of numbered Nvidia series cards) is different; due to power delivery and thermals.

I'm curious on the power draw of the GPUs.

  8. If I had to choose between a Gaming PC with Intel Core i7 11700 RTX 3060 TI 16 GB of RAM, 1 TB SSD or a Gaming Laptop with Intel Core i7 11800H + Intel UHD Graphics, RTX 3070, 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB SSD which one should I pick?

I'm always going for the laptops only because of the size.
Like, I don't have much room for the PC so a laptop is a way to go for me. Plus I am not big enough nerd to know how to build a PC 😂

  9. Great video!!!

For me, I didn't want portability, but space was an issue.

Now that I have my own room and desk and chair, I can build a proper desktop.

I love my laptop, but it leaves a lot to be desired, and for the exact reasons mentioned in this video.

    Thank you!

  10. It's also pretty crazy how fast laptops drop in value vs separate GPUs, at least as I type this in May 2022. I just bought a used Asus ROG with a i7-9750 and an RTX 2070 for $500 and the day I bought it, the cheapest 2070 I could easily find on FaceBook is still $400. Obviously this video has shown what we all knew: a standalone GPU is going to handily outperform the mobile/laptop version but for that additional $100, I got a 9750, 16GB of RAM, a 500 GB M.2, a 1TB SATA SSD, a great looking 144Hz screen and the ability to take it on the go if needed. That seems like a pretty incredible value though admittedly, I'm guessing most gamers would rather have the 25% more FPS at home.

  11. Can anyone scientifically confirm or deny if shaking the laptop while its running like he is doing is good or bad?

Bet the laptop wins… just kidding.

  12. Hi PC-C! Loving the videos!
Question for ya based on buying in the next couple of weeks. Been trying to decide whether to go
    – Alienware x17r2 with 3080ti, i7 12700, 32GB DDR5
    Or
    Alienware Aurora r13 with 3080, i7 12700, 32GB DDR5.
I’m leaning to the laptop coz of the portability but I have an old laptop I could Moonlight / Remote screen the simulator games I’d play on the move. Desktop wise would be replacing a console and potentially doing some content recording / editing.
Both are roughly the same price at the moment.
Concerned about paying same for a laptop that’ll give me less output than desktop but on the flip side to not using my desktop as much as a laptop and wasting money that way 😂. Help / Thoughts?

  13. You did enable the MUX switch to bypass the iGPU for video output, right?! Big rookie mistake not doing so and then go like "there is a bottleneck in the system" on a recorded video.

  14. 11:31 wich one dekstop? why u not give any description?

  15. I'm currently running a ASUS Zephyrus G15 GA503QR with a Ryzen 9 5900HS paired with an RTX 3070 and it runs my entire steam library like butter. This laptop certainly outperforms my old Cyberpower prebuilt. I never really liked laptops but I mean it was a great deal compared to GPUs being priced the same as my laptop or even more not including the rest of a system cost.

  16. A gaming desktop with a 11 series i7 and an rtx 3070 won’t be anywhere close to under $2k in my area. But a gaming laptop with the same specs are only around 1500-1700. And although 200 fps would be nice I don’t think going from 160-200 will make a $600 dollar difference in my gameplay lol.

  17. Can someone tell me if the peripherals in the laptop and the desktop are the same, why is there a performance difference? Is it because of the power supply or does it have something to do with the architecture of the chips?

  18. Hii I currently have a decent laptop but it can't handle video games at all (e.g. valorant at ave 30 fps on the lowest graphics settings) and I'm contemplating either getting a new, better gaming laptop for both work and gaming or a PC and use my current laptop when leaving the house :0 any advice?

  19. They should not use rtx3070 name if. It does not meet its specs.
I did some tests on my laptop rtx3070 it perdorms as rtx2050
So this ROG laptop you testing games on has actually an rtx2050

  20. im exited too

  21. Thanks

  22. But these laptop 3070 rtx cards are performing better than lower end CPUs that are still for sale by scalpers for silly money

  23. Thanks for the review, I just bought the G15 ROG STRIX 5900HX + RTX 3070, it’s currently shipping.

the sad thing that it dosent have a MUX switch to turn off Optimus so we could get better FPS, but oh well, the specs are high end anyways.

  24. Gaming pc 4 life

  25. I have the alienware x17 with the rtx 3070 and it rocks on my 5 k monitor!

  26. Is the laptop connected via HDMI or USB C?, since I think on the Asus laptops the GPU is directly connected to the USB C port instead of HDMI

  27. 3:54 Lol that is so immature

  28. Tbh last time was in a game i had to carry a fuze hehe

  29. I don't believe that was a good test because a few things not mentioned.

    1. The price of the laptop and desktop. Due to the increased price of computer parts and stock issues, it may be easier and cheaper to get a laptop.

    2. There's multiple laptop 3070s. They vary in TDP, depending on how slim or big they are. The TUF Dash F15 doesn't have the highest TDP, only 80W (85 with dynamic boost), and the 3070 laptop has a 115W TDP.
The 3060 and 3080 also has this alongside the 3080 also having an 8GB and 16GB vram variant. The strix g15 has the max tdp for 3070s 115W (130 dynamic boost).

Yes, the naming conventions are bad, but I think a fairer comparison would be to compare using both laptops with the highest TDP. Also, say the price of both the laptop and the desktop for a price to performance ratio. And this is a comparison with only 3070s, so it should be a test for 3070 laptop and 3070 desktop rather than laptops and gaming PCs in general. I think the other 30 series gpus should be put to the test.

  30. Nice comparison, but I noticed your were connecting the laptops via hdmi cable, which is not directly connected to the RTX 3070, so there will still be bottle neck.
I’d be interested in a follow up comparison bypassing the iGPU via USB-C to hdmi.

  31. the one important reason is that with a desktop you will need to buy a monitor which can suck becuase if you broke or with no way of earning more money it could take even MORE time saving for a monitor or keyboard and now days GPU prices are also up the roof and the only way getting a pc for a fear price could be pre builds which most people wouldn't want owning , becuase of the reliability and not completely knowing what it fully has inside the case. But of course a desktop is always gonna beat a laptop cuz of size of GPU and just the case fans cooling the GPUs improving the performance

I just gotta say I think laptops are better because there more potable and don’t need a $700 monitor

  32. This also can’t be a very fair comparison, I know that no matter what you do the laptop will always perform worse then the desktop, but these are also some pretty low powered gpus, so if you could you should try to redo this in a shorter fashion with a full powered rtx 3070

  33. Use a lenovo legion laptop. It provides max tdp rtx graphic cards.

  34. Hi I travel every 2 weeks… Please can someone recommend what should I buy?

  35. The most important thing left out of this review is TGP. The Asus has a draw of 130W and is a fair representation of what a mobile 3070 RTX can do, but there are models that range from 95W to 140W..

  36. This is the magic age when we finally get top tier performance from laptops in portable size with sustainable temps that will probably last for years

  37. I think current high wattage laptops would give a good fight.

  38. Yeah, but can it run Crisis?

  39. why is noone making a flow x13 style laptop expect with pci-4.0 x8 (instaed of 3.0) on the side that isn't locked down to just asus.
and I don't like the asus one because they have a mobile 3080 inside that box… which is like… why…..

I want a flow x13 with the ability to buy standard off the shelf docks like there is with thunderbolt expect cheaper (cause it's just a direct pci port and doesn't need allt hat fuss) and faster (again cause it's a direct pci)

or…. have a laptop with a water cooling port that connects to an external cooler at home so you can up the clocks

  40. I thinks pc is better so im saving up for 1 im on a 2015 Mac laptop:{

  41. Great test!

  42. Mildly disappointed you mention the power limit differences on the laptop gpus, makes a big difference laptop to laptop with the same gpu
