First I would paint the magnets with appliance epoxy paint to keep them from marking up your fridge.
Make sure to glue the correct side of the magnet
I figured that some time ago, and i have one tip for you: You don´t need to glue the magnets, thy bottle cups are magnetic, so they stick with the magnetic force prtty good 🙂 .
I used to make these man magnets at home, but I have a better version of this hack… In this version the magnets stay on the inside the bottle cap and therefore there is a slight distance from the magnet to the fridge surface, and since those thin magnets are pretty weak the whole thing would fall very easily. My solution: glue a small piece of styrofoam on the inside of the cap and then glue the magnet on the styrofoam. Now you have full fridge/magnet contact.

this is a great idea but sometimes they need spacers so the edges of the caps aren't scraping the fridge or surface they are on

The only trouble with this is (get ready for an extra science lesson here) is that when a magnet is heated up it looses magnetism as the vibrating particles re-direct the domains altering the magnetic field disabling the magnet. The hot glue may do this so maybe use something like stickytabs.
