The thing is, x299 may have more pcie lanes, but on the ryzen they are gen 4, as opposed to gen 3 on x299, so theoretically enabling pcie x8 on the ryzen platform grants you more pcie lanes than gen 3 16x on x299
i bought one very cheap (320 euros)and very real 7980xe on ebay… from rebusfarm germany ,(i searched the seller on google and found his company) wich is an image processing company so i knew it was real,also had a very positive feedback and after thinking a bit i could only imagine one scenario….i think that they changed their render stations to something more efficient…50(i say 50 because it was the quantity he was selling) 7980xe could go above 15kw comsuption at max load so if they went for epic or even 5950x the drop on the electric bill will pay the upgrade very fast… anyway it got here and im loving this amazing cpu …

China and Russia are actively trying to steal our tech. Great video Linus . These are the chips coming from the fry’s electrics stores that closed and cleared inventory.
I've used those enterprise level high core count cheap and used Intel chips back when high core count meant having 6 cores 😂🤣. Used a dual socket motherboard for doubling up the cores and honestly, it ran great!!! But their lower clocks and lower ipc is not great for gaming.

annoying how there are so many different motherboard brackets and especially for a low budget pc having to buy a whole new motherboard that might cost the same as the low end cpu is not fun.
Talking about the clock rates across manufacturers is a little irrelevant right? I don’t think performance can just be judged on clock rate. You have to take into account CPI which should theoretically be 1 in a pipelined processor but branch prediction, cache design, and even pipeline stages are probably important differences that aren’t taken into account when just comparing clock speeds across processor manufacturers.
With this said, I may totally be wrong. I’m just an undergrad CS student so if I got something wrong pls let me know
