When Framework told me they were making a completely repairable laptop I assumed it would be a flimsy chonker… I’ve never been so happy to be wrong.

I have the Fairphone 4, I honestly love it.
I never realized until now how annoying Linus' high pitch voice is
genius
Was good and informative until he dropped some profanity, especially the F bomb. Not going to be watching in the future.
Once they get powerpc in those things, ill buy one!(risc-v)
When will they ship to Belgium? Can't wait to put one together ^^
Love it but the logo is so bad and generic. I really hope they change it.
I'd probably give them a try the next time I buy a new laptop, but that'll be in a few years. Hope they're still going.
he said abouuuuuu lmfao
My current laptop is like a Volvo, it just won’t die. But when it does, I will be happy, because I can buy one of these
My Acer from 2014 is super easy to upgrade both the hard drive and RAM. It's a real bummer I can't upgrade the cpu. I'd be the happiest man alive if I could put a faster cpu in it.
Very affordable, 2k for an i7, absolutely fucking ridiculous
An unmentioned plus side of this laptop: the Framework team which makes it (as mentioned on the battery) is PRIDDY gender balanced! 8 women and 10 men. On their site the team is not AS even, but still quite even 21 vs 17 women. Can't always tell by the name how they identify …
To paraphrase Usain Bolt: Not bad …. for a tech company! 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂 😉 😉 😉 😉
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY
No dedicated graphics card yet
This company is great, there are other startups that offer linux such as tuxedo too. But we need those 2 in 1 laptops to become available from someone other than the big laptop companies.
11:53 Linus moment
I am impressed. Really nice! Will research if they have something to my liking
My son somehow just destroyed his HP Pavilion after just 16 months of service. At the very least it needs a new trackpad, a new display and new top cover. I can't find any way to buy these parts from HP. HP does provide a bunch of YouTube videos on disassembling and reassembling the PC but parts? No idea. The PC works fine except the trackpad and display.
It was very easy to find these parts on Framework's website and it would cost about $280 for the parts. And it's awesome that you can take the internals and make a desktop PC out of it.
I'm sold
I was just describing something very similar to this to a friend that I've said I've always wanted something like this for years, and I had no idea it was real. Please let this become the standard for laptops and phones. This is perfect
Got mine a few days ago. It's definitely the coolest thing I've ever owned. The trackpad is not great, but I'm literally not even concerned because when a new, better one comes out I can just .. swap it! It's so cool!
This is really good work from them, and all the effort they've put with the qr codes to make things easier for people who will tinker with it, amazing. I think most laptops should be built in a similar fashion, modular, accessible and easy to fix. Apple is a joke, I mean, yeah, your macbook air is broken get a new one? And people accept this? If you have a problem with your car, you don't just go out and get a new one. Or with any device that is expensive, like a fridge, or a washing machine. Why should computers be different? Most of these devices are very expensive already and in the case of apple, way overpriced as well. Anyway, I wish them luck, good effort!
was this guy in it at some point
So My birthday I was sick and I decided to binge youtube, then I finally watch this video after it sitting in my recommended for weeks, and I find I can afford this for myself and that theres is a "build it yourself" model meaning I can also do my favorite hobby at the same time as having an insane upgrade over my macbook pro from 2009 that I've been using for 5 years. Thank You Linus, This is the best birthday gift ever!
Hoe do you feel about it now?
Great laptop definitely hound consider upgrading from my hp elitebook revolve and the fact I could have usb a on the right is great as I use apples hated hockey puck mouse so I need a usb a port on the back or right due to the short cable
A little larger screen and a spacious chassis than this with motherboard/CPU/GPU upgradability would just start the trend of “Modular Upgradable Laptops” – That would be insanely good
I’m not in the market for a laptop right now, but when I am, I know who I’m going to for my purchase. This is everything I want out of a pc company.
Can't wait to take this to class for note taking then on a trip with an external GPU and play some games on it when the time comes
Yeah I'm hoping this company is killing it in 10 years when I finally replace the one I have now. What a great looking and easy design. I'd probably give up desktops if I hand a customizable powerhouse laptop.
finally e waste reducing ideas
Love this, took a look at their website, out of my price range at present. But this is one to remember. Great video.
