When Apple announced the iPhone 14 series, some of the biggest features were things you can’t see like an internal redesign that make repairs cheaper and easier, or tools that most people will hopefully neve have to use, like Car Crash Detection. One feature that stood out was Emergency SOS via Satellite which, when you or someone you love is stranded or injured and out of range of cell service, lets you use a satellite to text an emergency dispatcher. Apple invited us to a live demonstration, and we came away very impressed.
Apple’s new safety feature is now live in the US and Canada.

where's the android fan boys saying "we already have this feature"
I think it should be free for everyone cz nobody knows if they'll need it or not.
Really this feature doesnโt work indoor? What if you got mugged inside a building in a sketchy neighborhood and lost your iPhone 14 but you have Apple Watch series 8 hidden underneath your winter jacket? Is there a way to use sos in this scenario?
nice video. This feature is also present on Apple Watch series 8 and watch ultra right?
Yea Apple, let`s pay for everyfkingthing existing on those phones. That`s why i have only Samsung Symbols on every device!
People keep talking about the increased safety in hiking, but this feature could save lives in situations like extreme weather, widespread power outages, and major traffic accidents in remote parts of the country. When time is of the essence in the most dire of circumstances, two additional methods to contact emergency services change the odds.
How about no emergency? In the woods in Adirondacks and you just need to text someone. ???
And now they will track u forever
Does only works with the 14?
Except voice communications over satellite is absolutely possible… It may not be possible on an iPhone, but is absolutely possible, in general.
iOS ๐

If we are trapped in a house with fire, how can I get a "clear view of the Sky" to get the reception from the Satellite?
after they rescue you by helicopter, i understand, they send you a big bill?
At last we just got this in the UK cheers apple
Im hoping Apple eventually sets up satellite texting, similar to a Zoleo.
My phone already has this feature Apple is too late for this software.
This needs to be more widespread. More phones need this tech in them.
ah yes, paying 1.2k to not die or get stranded. Roger

Emergency use only… what are you doing? you are not part of the test pilot.
What if someone gets stuck under a building?
Wow so this isn't a gimmick?!?
you forgot to add this feature does not work everywhere in the world. natively only in very flat parts of the world. Of course, this is not part of the third world countries, which is a little strange considering that it connects to the satellite?
The movie โFallโ would have been over in 10 minutes had they had this phone.
I hope this feature this comes to other smartphones like the Pixel series as well, this really gives you some peace of mind.
Curious how long Apple might plans to sandbag TMobiles satellite SOS when they implement, so they can charge for it using their proprietary system?
Its OP.
does it work across the globe or just at the US?
this guys lisp ๐๐
i like the way this guy speeekesss
Oh cool feature, wonder if the batterys gonna hold up long enough for that XD
Sounds great!
There are many things I don't want/need and occupy lots of memory/storage. At least, this one sounds good and useful to me. Only a personal opinion.
Weโll thinkโฆ havenโt buy Apple Watch yet but if they include this feature for sure I spend my money on it!

Sorry to say that we donโt need android anymore
Still overpriced prestige objects.
what if i dont have any recharge or any sim
Is the guy in the thumbnail having a seizure or is he possessed?? ๐๐๐๐
05:05 i mean think about from the introduction of GPS and other navigation systems we have always connected to satellites which are of course in space ….
What an overhyped Idiot
It seems to be logical because if you are an outdoorsy person, that does a lot of hiking can help you during extreme conditions and give you the exact location where you are to get help.
I remember reading news several weeks ago where a young lady went on a hike alone and never came back to her checkpoint. Authorities had a search rescue for a long time but had to call it off due to extreme weather. Unfortunately, the young lady did not make it after sub freezing temperatures ๐ญ . I'm not sure what happened, but it is very likely that the person got lost and needed help. Having an iPhone 14 could have saved this person life.
With this feature on my 14 ProMax I could assure you that I feel more safer when traveling and stuff
