For this to work you will need a 6v Solar Panel and a Female USB connector. Solder the USB connector to the negative and positive contact points on the Solar Panel and you are ready to go. It is really that simple.
You may not want to leave the phone or Mp3 player plugged in at night because the power may drain out of the phone when no light is present. This is because we did not regulate the current of power.

Would 4 volts do the trick? @Householdhacker please respond thanks love your vids keep on going!
do not just guess which terminal is positive and which is ground. Use a multimeter to ohm it out so you dont damage your phone or device you are trying to charge
Householdhacker, would there be a way to connect a solar panel to a battery charger, so it charges the batteries, and connect the charger to a USB port, allowing someone to build a "Charge Bank", and charge their device at any time, as long as it's filled. (Also would there be a way to add a LED light to notify you when it's fully charged so you can switch it off?). I asked because I tried to do that, because someone at Radioshack showed me a vague diagram of it, and it didn't work, and another employee at Radioshack told me that I had it running in one circuit with the USB port permanently opened, so electricity can't flow.

look it up. or just continue reading. its the receiving end (or receptacle) of a usb connection. The usb port in your computer is the female, while, lets say, a thumb drive is the male. of course this sounds really fucked up when you think about it, but that's actually why is was called male/female :/ wtf etymology go home you're drunk
