LG’s G2 is out and it’s brighter than ever, but is it worth buying over last year’s G1 or this year’s onslaught of QD OLED? Is the Brightness Booster enough to keep WOLED in the fight?

Hey everyone, we made a mistake: it's a triad subpixel layout, NOT pentile. Pentile would result in a lower subpixel resolution, which the S95B doesn't suffer from. Our thanks @Gimils_Beard and @neoteriX for pointing this out in the comments.
Per Rtings there is a known issue with raised blacks on the Sammy and Sony QD OLED
Why would someone like Linus cheap out. I would just get the best of the best in his situation.
C2 VS high end Sony 🤔🤔🤔
A95, for rich plebs lol
anyone got burn in yet?
the price on these oleds decrease so much
Couldn't decide. Bought both; one for bedroom one for game room
Yea a 42 inch C2 is now ~$700, so yea competition really drove prices down. Course it’s Christmas too
A view from the Uk. I do love these videos. You know, those that seem to think they are talking to the companies tech department and not the great unwashed. When i bought my OLODLG48A2 not a word was said about "Nits", (whatever the hell they are). Not a word was was mentioned about "Quantum dots". Can i therefore offer a bit of sage advice Linus? 99.999% of buyers of TVs' walk into a showroom with a budget. They then look at the size, they then look at the picture quality. By this time a salesperson has crept up on them offering special deals and extended guarantees, then takes the order to find out it's out of stock. You guys really need your own corner on youtube to continue trying to outdo each other with "Tech". Nope, for reviews, i shall not be back here.
So im extremely torn between the LG G2 and the Sony A80K tv. I'm really hoping someone sees this comment despite this being an older video. My main concern is input lag when streaming games from my Gaming PC in the other room. I'm not going to be playing competitive stuff for obvious reasons, but when I want to share gameplay with my nieces and nephews It's a really nice thing to be able to do. I currently have a Vizio TV that I regretted buying as soon as I tried to game on it. The input lag is unbearable. I use an Nvidia Shield (the streaming focused smaller one) to stream the games to my living room TV. So which one would be better as far as input lag? They are both the same price basically at best buy right now. Just don't want to make another buying mistake again.
I own an LG G2 OLED 82 Inches and I AM IN LOVE WITH IT. I play Battlefield, Assassin's Creed and let me tell you. With the lights off. Game on!!! This TV delivers and you as a gamer are looking for. Ah of course, I also have an XBOX series X to deliver performance…
Didn’t Samsung nerf the brightness on their oled? And cop a load of flack for doing so?
I just ordered a LG G2 65 inch because i think it's more elegant and flush mounts on the wall. I also was afraid to get a bent Samsung S95B. I've seen multiple YT videos that highlight that problem.
Burn in just gives your display a personal character, like a rich patina on a nice fountain pen reveals how you write
When was the last time Linus had to actually worry about money?
When was the last time Linus had to actually worry about money?
Yes it’s the anti glare coating fellas
6:35 – Bro I was sure linus said that for a segway xD
No. Midrange Samsung Q80B is EXQUISITE without hype or mini LED. My C2 is a game room only device. Samsung OWNS the living room
Turns out the Samsung is a piece of crap after all the initial hype unfortunately…
If you want a television that is larger than 65”, this entire video is moot. Samsung doesn’t even give you an option to buy an OLED tv that is larger than 65”.
Samsung cheated though. Their software recognised when certain sized test windows were used and then cheated the settings. With non-usual windows, the Samsung cheat is seen.
What do you think of the pink tint on G2?🤔🤔🤔🤔
the Anti-Reflective layer is a DEAL BREAKER. I would rather have reflections with INKY BLACKs, than a Plasma looking panel.
I just bought the s95b 65inch for $1,800.
so at 8:27 you can see that the source is HDR10+ (so it says on the screen) and the LG is not HDR10+ compatible. It would be like playing a Dolby Vision source and the Samsung isn't Dobly Vision compatible. So it's only normal that the colors are so different and better looking on the Samsung. Am I mission something ?
What movies are they using as a reference around the 3 minute mark and beyond? I want to pull them up on my C2 so I can witness the glory…
Thanks for the review I hadn't consider the SB95 from samsung but I tend to watch more in dim lighting or darkness so the brightness of the highlight or not dark parts of dark scenes really appeals to me. I am surprised no one mentions the carbon fiber of the G2 and C2 which decrease the weight of the TV significantly. Oh and for those looking at C2 please note you have to get 55" or larger to get the bright OLD technology. 48 will not have it.
Just bought the 42" LG C2 version a few weeks ago because my old Sony Bravia died after almost 10 years. And i'm very happy with my first OLED. I don't even need to use brightness > 50% (besides HDR content ofc). Don't forget, higher brightness = higher power consumption, even more the bigger your panel is.
What splitter are they using? I need a good high quality splitter to retain the quality and speed of input when hooking up all my consoles to one TV and a capture card
Awesome vid! 👍 but uhh…the hat and the hair—one of thems gotta go
Lol, like may other 'reviewers' I see that 'king of the of shills', Linus/LTT, 'bought into' Samsungs Nvidia-like marketing for that S95B – that original firmware was DELIBERATELY meant to (falsely) impress the uninformed, hence, that all-along-planned-for firmware update to severely drop that max brightness back down to prevent guaranteed burn-in.
And Linus, the LG G1 / G2 both come with FIVE YEAR warranties, unlike the much shorter Samsung one – YOU DIND'T SEE THE OBVIOUS IMPLICATIONS THERE !!! Then again, prostituting credibility for money is just that.
WHAT IS GOING ON WITH YOUR HAIR BUDDY
C1 as monitor G1 in the living room. Happy days.
Got the g2 was in-between to the new sony a95k and couldn’t be happier. Had a toshiba led tv for. Almost 7 years so yeah …quite the difference 😅
I just picked up the g2 65' for $2,100, super glad I waited!
I hear the Samsung qd oleds are having problems
Hi in india
C2 55 cost 1530$
G2 55 Cost 1650$
which on to opt if i plan to hole one for decade
I ordered a G2 this morning, now I'm not sure if I made the right choice
So will OLED be as good for daytime viewing in a bright room?
so is this better than c2 for gaming/movies?
I chose the Samsung S95B and I love it.
