  1. I used an ancient laptop running Ubuntu throughout my entire CS bachelor and installed Pop! on my first PC build about 2 years ago, which I frequently game on, and I have never regretted it!

  2. I like that everybody can create his own desktop not like windows, a mono desktop

  3. Now how to uninstall it

  4. MAN you just saved me a TON of heartaches! lol I OWE you on this one for sure. (I wouldn't have turned off secure boot and I would have been pounding my head into the sand…and it's ASUS too, so your BIOS will look a bit like mine…)

  5. "So many with dread in their hearts as 10 turns to 11." That's not dread, my friend, that was pure heart breaking pain. Windows 11 is 100,000,000,000% inoperable for me. I can NOT use it in any way shape or form (no local accounts–no 'workarounds") and even if I could… THERE IS NO WAY that I am putting ANYTHING (let alone 100% of EVERYTHING) into Microsoft's cloud… just not going to happen. Brand new ASUS STRIX ROG and it is useless. Here I go taking a brand new PC and putting a new open source software on it. One that I am only vaguely familiar with, and have not spent much time using at all…. so here I am, Master… teach me…

  6. just bought a new laptop, and discovered how horrible windows 11 is

  7. I worked with a vast number of operating systems in my long IT career, and one of the best things about Unix-like OSs is that there are a multitude of ways to accomplish any task: GUI, command line, scripting, multiple languages. Nobody should go away unsatisfied.

  8. I use Arch btw

  9. When I installed Ubuntu back in the day I used wine to install a bootleg copy of MS Office it worked fine but libery office isn't terrible either and that comes out of the box I'm scared of the terminal thou hate that thing

  10. Thank you Anthony for spreading the word of linux

  11. There is no good tutorial for how to uninstall Linux. Please someone make one.

  12. when in bios when I try and add a boot device and select my usb it keeps asking me to "select media files" and then at the end ask me to "input file" wich creates the name for the boot device on the list
    and when I try and boot that it says no boot device found
    linux is easier than you might think, sure it sounds easier than you might think intill everysingle computers bios looks like a different alien from a different galaxy designed it
    i am actually quite tired of going through all these tutorials listening to all the pretentious bs just for it not to work, this has been an anoying chrismas for sure
    edit: I am very happy to anounce that not pnly dont I have linux on my laptop, but also my windows is now broken, so I dont have a laptop at all now, thank you

  13. i use arch, the install is really not that hard, just manual. All you do is mimic a tutorial and change a few bits and pieces to suit your needs. That's better imo

  14. my favorite distro is Nobara project just because of how much is ready out of the box for a gamer/creator because it was the first linux distro to support my 3rd gen M-Audio Mbox. not even the fedora base Nobara is based on works with my mbox. for some reason only on nobara after over a decade of trying, does my mbox3 work suddenly.

  15. No thanks! im normal

  16. I have been using Linux for about a year now, and I am loving it! All thanks to you guys!

  17. For gaming, no.

  18. so install Linux to make it like windows stupid asf

  19. get ALL the driver and app support as windows and ill switch. It needs to be extremely user friendly. ZERO and I mean NO NEED to EVER use the Terminal to install or uninstall things or hunt for drivers.

  20. 👏👏

  21. I’d just install windows 7.

  22. Why can't Visual Studio run on Linux? I can spare a hundred GB for that. Except that, Linux is perfect in every-way. I miss Ubuntu. How can I change Windows 11 look like Ubuntu style?

  23. I can't switch to anything else nowadays. First of all I like FOSS. Secondly my full list of apps is foss based nowadays, starting with GnuPG+Smartcardsupport, Libreoffice, Evolution, LaTeX, Vim, Git, SSH, recently some occasionally Video editing came along with Shotcut, Natron, Kdenlive, OBS, Containers and Virtual machines this is working, too out of the box. (Fedora based Distro here). I am doing not as much Gaming and more production work here, so Linux is what fits my workflow best. That stuff could be done with windows or mac as well but it would mean more pain and lesser security levels.

  24. I love endeavour for ONE reason:
    It's basically Arch with a different logo and helpers;
    There's no pain of installing;
    You choose your desktop even before install;
    Simple normally but powerful when tweaked;

    With KDE Plasma, It is Simple pu powerful when needed ; (nice reference)

    And other small things like that……

  25. 0:01 You used a door as a metaphor for Windows and I love it.

  26. The thing is, that back in 2010, Linux really couldn't (realistically) be used as a daily driver for many people. Most times using Linux required (at least) some basic understanding of terminal and the system. However, I installed Ubuntu (not my favorite) on my dad's computer (he isn't really a computer guy) over 3 years ago, after windows 10 failed to keep running. Somehow that laptop is still kicking. Only had to help him once. Sure Linux can be a hassle. But not as much as one would think. I've used PopOS for over a year now and it's one of the most versatile OS's I've ran so far and surpasses my expectations as far as usability and versatility. Especially running closed source and or windows applications. Linux was a difficult choice at first, but recently has risen to be a force to be reckoned with. Especially with the money Steam has poured into its gaming functionality.

  27. You should just dual boot your pc so you can use Linux and Windows, if you have apps that are on windows that you need to use

  28. i gave it a try but got so lost

  29. sudo apt-get install fire*

  30. well done Anthony – been using Ubuntu for a couple years now, but still managed to learn a couple new tricks thanks to your video. Thank you 🙂

  31. Linux Tech Tips

  32. So tried this. Got to installing languge and then got the warning that my bios has RST running and I need to turn it off. But it is off, the Windows will not boot. Even tried it on an external ssd, got to the same spot and got same message. All of the youtube videos on this don't really explain how to set this up so you can use Linux and Windows on the same hardware. any ideas????

  33. but i dont have a USB stick DVD/CD-ROM or any way to save it, do i just jump into the program like theres no tomorrow?

  34. ubuntu my beloved

  35. For school and programming I use linux mint but for gaming and other stuff I use windows.

  36. I hate windows 10 and I can hardly afford most apple products. I have zero knowledge about Linux or anything in this realm. But this is my first step into this world thanks!

  37. Why is there a black bar top and bottom of this video???? WTF is it with constantly changing aspect ratios!!!!! 16:9 please, it's the proven best! The vast majority of people have 16:9 monitors (watching this) and NOT shit modern Android/iOS/Apple stupid aspect ratio phones!
    PS, from the future https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rlg4K16ujFw

  38. hey i just want you to know im intimidated before to try it, now sine i watch your video im gonna do it i want to try linux

  39. No Rufus or Win32DiskImager? Plug?

  40. I would argue that linux is easier to use than windows

  41. Dont install Linux or Windows 11 untill 2025. Thats when Windows 10 support will stop.
