I hope you didn’t just buy a new monitor, because Dell Alienware’s new QD-OLED AW3423DW is HERE and it’s giving everything else in this price range a serious run for its money. It’s high refresh rate (175Hz) , GSYNC HDR, and OLED. Have we achieved a zero-compromises monitor?!

Deals for Days. Big home savings are happening now.
$2099 australian dollars for the monitor and $3179 for the 3090. Bit pricey for playing games.
This along with a RTX 40 series pc will cost more than a car lol.
would my 3070 card give me 60+ fps with ultra settings on AAA games?
Solid review here that covers the negatives https://youtu.be/YleSuwK8vR4
So this display does not have the hdmi version 2.1 ports everyone says you need for PS5 best quality picture??
If you have a 2-3 thousand dollar PC, why wouldn't you get a high end display.
I'm curious, does the RGB LED back-lighting work as bias lighting for what is on the display? Like, can it shift colour based on what the monitor is displaying? That would be sick.

Why is the HDMI port only 2.0?
If it had a USB-C cable for connecting to a mac then I would consider this one.
if i get this monitor do i need to upgrade from a 2070 graphic card [question for anyone that has knowledge on the topic]
Just put mine on order!! Thanks for the review and helping make my mind up.
I own one since 2 months and it has major flaws. Guess the fans and the coil winding and crackling noises have been mentioned already but also does the display turn itself of occasionally. According to the Dell Support this happens when the display overheats. And that I overheats in a 17°c hot environment after being turned on for 2 full minutes is normal behaviour. I asked the support 3 times if they are serious and they confirmed it
Also after every boot, after every pixel refresh and approximately every 30 minutes the display asks for a pixel refresh. Normally it should ask for a refresh every 4 hrs. Also you can't avoid the refresh sometimes. So you just started your pc and want to do some work ? Pray that the display allows it. And if doesn't, pray the you don't get into a refresh loop.
Half the options the monitor has are also greyed out and not useable. This is just stupid. Why add a feature and make it unusable than ?
And while Dell refusing to say that any of the aboth things are not normal behaviour, Dell offered me a replacement. Sad thing tho that this will take about 6 months at least. So half a year without a monitor… nice
I've shown the Email from the support to the store I got my monitor from and they stopped selling it immediately and offered a free return for everyone that bought it
I just ordered the updated version, the AW3423DWF. I’ve been wanting to buy an OLED monitor for a long time and seeing how hyped Linus was the whole time playing on it, and considering that the price was reduced for the newer version, I just had to give this thing a try.
I don’t usually just go out and buy something because a reviewer really liked it. I actually already have a sweet LG 34950GKF-B curved ultrawide monitor that I love, which also wasn’t cheap when I got it 3 years ago but the QD-OLED technology seems too good to pass up.
Mine should arrive in a few days and with the next-gen Witcher 3 update coming very soon, I can’t wait to dive back in using this new beast of a display.
is this 4k?
dead pixel.
I have just ordered one for £724 off Amazon in the UK. I will have it tomorrow and i honestly can't wait, I wasn't sure about the curve or the glossier display but i've wanted this monitor since you released this video and i done more research into it. I could have waited for the DWF but honestly at this price it was too difficult to say no. I currently have an LG gl850-B wich is 1440p 144hz and it's a great monitor, I don't see 4k as a worthwhile improvement due to how much more power it takes to run so i could justify 3440×1440 and have a 3080 ti to run it. I don't game heavily and may have issues with desk space but if i really love this when i get it and the contrast and response time improvements are that much better than i will just buy a vesa mount. Moving from IPS to QD OLED seems like it will be a worthy upgrade.
Reply: on that is: not written from me:
i cant agree more.
(This is something I'm amazed has been overlooked by reviewers and the overall community. This is not a hardware problem but a software one)
**If there's any experienced MacType user out there that's gotten their hands on one, please link us your .ini file!**
Now that a bunch of us have received our qd-oled monitors, I can't be the only one that's noticed text clarity is drastically worse than on traditional 110-PPI IPS monitors. It's distracting to the point it makes work difficult for me. Ideally Microsoft would just update cleartype to account for the diamond subpixel layout, but I'm not sure how likely this is as users of portrait monitors also run into this problem (although its not as noticeable) and have been left in the dark for years.
The reason for this is because the qd-oled panel has a different [subpixel layout](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subpixel_rendering) than traditional panels.
Some solutions have been mentioned:
* turning off cleartype and attempting to configure it manually. This is a nightmare as I can't even tell some of the samples apart, ideally there would be a place to dump the "correct" settings into. (Worst solution)
* Using the app [bettercleartype](https://github.com/bp2008/BetterClearTypeTuner) and turning on grayscale rendering. If you see people mentioning registry tweaks in old posts, use this app instead (Better solution)
* Using the app [mactype](https://github.com/snowie2000/mactype) which has some advanced features to work around different subpixel layouts. Even mactype is a nightmare for novice users, as figuring out a correct and working config is not simple. Do I need to configure any windows settings differently if using mactype? Should cleartype be off? Are the manual tuning options native to windows in effect while mactype is live? (MacType should be the BEST solution, as it's more configurable than cleartype, and cleartype grayscale settings don't apply in all apps, possibly not even in chrome?)
With all this being the case, is there anyone out there familiar with this problem who has a comprehensive guide or tips on improving subpixel rendering?
______
EDIT: See [this link](https://tonsky.me/blog/monitors/#a-fractional-pixel) for more info (and a pretty good writeup on text rendering in general) The [wikipedia article on cleartype](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ClearType#How_ClearType_works) is also great for getting an idea of how this works.
Before this post gets flamed by children who have attacked other commenters who dared point out a problem with their fancy new purchase– yes you should still get a qd-oled monitor if its in your budget. Pretty much everything else even close to it at this price point is a cope for general users. If QD-OLED was the standard we were all used to, it would be considered laughable to move to IPS or VA just because the subpixel rendering of text is better, which is why I hope people are aware of this issue and demand a software fix.
and oh.. the Anti-glare use here is the same has acer x34gs that i tested home are 15% worse agenst reflections than my x34 2016 modell. this may be a deeper panel problem deeper than the choting 3h it self idk
Bought it for ~$700 on dell outlet with only 90 days warranty, but considering the price and the quality of the display, I can take the risk. For $1200 I would still probably buy it if I have no other choice. I did some reading about this monitor and seems like burn-in is not that big of a issue like with the early oled's. When I mounted this monitor next to my other (decent) IPS panels, you don't want to go back.
However, I have to say that for productivity/work with text, this is not the best choice. Fonts are not sharp and high brightness may cause your eyes to hurt. Lowering the brightness is affecting the contrast. I found that switching to eco mode helps a bit.
is it possible to split the screen so one half can be used for work, and the other for gaming?
My Acer XB270HU is nearing 8 Years of Age now and this is the first time im really considering an Upgrade. Thing is it´s still going strong with its specs even for today (1440p IPS 144Hz and G-Sync) only thing thats missing really is HDR, can anyone tell me if the difference is really that big and would the colors be much better on the new QD-Oled panels?
Is there a not insanely expensive 27 inch non curved 1440p oled on the market?
Updated : solved: AW3223DW has render sub text problems and are therefore not for clear text. It’s not a all around monitor like a typical lcd/ips panel. This screen is actually best for consoles due that for the bucks-Expensive for that purpose only, however If u only use blue ray etc and a gamekeeper it’s real good for pc to.
This was written before I knew:
Ty for the vid. Can I ask u: Whats the best monitor with real low bloom and good for all purposes: video editing, blender etc, and streaming Netflix content etc and ofc gaming. I have acer x34gs and x34 the x34 is better on corner blooming actually, besides that the x34gs has OLED quality, and I hear the the Alienware AW3423DW has problems regarding netflix/ streaming and editing resolve blender etc. what to do for me now?
I don’t understand any of the specs he’s saying but I want that display!
I am confused, he keeps saying SAMSUNG but i thought it's not a SAMSUNG ?
Put this in the 49 inch S-UW form factor, and I'm all in.

'COST' lol
Has anyone experienced burn-in yet?
I want this display so bad. Black Friday is coming up and I wonder if it's going to be a sale. If it does imma pull the trigger asap.
How is the anti-reflective coating? Completely skipped using it for non-gaming (browsing, programming, etc).
How loud are the fans in the monitor?
I bought one. 1200 bucks. Ran for three days. Pressed the power button, heard a pop, smelled burning plastic, and it’s dead. Trash.
8:13 he's crying
This display looks gerat on my display.
I have an Asus pg27uq that I have all my games locked at 10 bit 98hz 4k hdr mode. Will this Alienware monitor be better?
I'm just going to say this now: with these monitors, you are paying a LOT MORE for a LITTLE. There comes a point with a lot of tech when you stop paying for vital, life-changing differences, and start throwing 1000s of dollars at specific hardware for marginal improvements. Most people will not notice a difference, and the difference is negligible. So please, make sure you've spent money where it matters before you blow it on a monitor.
