Not just dragon canyon, I almost did the same on beast canyon. The instructions are pretty crap. The picture where it shows you how to mount ssd and ram seems to show the compute element on its own not mounted inside the case so I also thought it had to come out.

I hate to see high tech go in the trash heap. LAND FILL. one thing watch videos on how to take that apart. so you can learn about the hidden weak spots are and what to do about it.
