Awesome Tips Motorola Edge Plus (2022) Review: There's a Lot to Like

There’s a lot to like about the new Motorola Edge Plus. Not only is it the first truly premium phone that Motorola has launched in the US since 2020, but the 2022 version of the Edge Plus packs a big battery, a high-refresh-rate display and multiple rear cameras and is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. If those specs sound similar it’s because phones from Samsung and OnePlus have nearly identical ones.
Β
What makes the Edge Plus stand out are the excellent ways Motorola’s software additions complement a near-untouched version of Android 12. Add in some of the best cameras found on any Motorola phone ever and the Edge Plus seems like a must-buy. But the $1,000 price is where things get complicated.

  1. Just got one for 500

  2. I bought a Moto Edge 5G in 2020, and I've loved it! I've been starting to shop for it's replacement, and, I have been absolutely disgusted that most phone makers are doing away with SD card slots, and 3.5 mm jacks! There aren't a lot of options in high-end phones that still have at least the SD support, if not a 3.5 mm jack! I was pretty much down to considering a Sony Xperia 5 IV, or a ASUS Zenfone 8 Flip! After some thought, I have grudgingly came to the conclusion that, as long as the phone has at least 256 GB, and preferably 512GB internal, it should be enough. I just hate being arbitrarily limited! And now, that this phone is selling for $499.99, I am seriously giving it another look!

  3. Just checked Verizon. Priced at $659.99. So doesn't appear to be any deals at Verizon. Also if moving from a Pixel 2 to Moto wonder if you lose all your stored photos on Google? My Pixels battery is dying. Thought about battery replacement but thinking maybe time to upgrade but to what is the question. Wanted to add Verizon's is only 256gb. No deals there.

  4. Still has less bloatware than Samsung.

  5. Please give me the name of camera you used to shot phone video while using
    Please

  6. I'm a regular Motorola phone buyer and for the price I paid , I'm really disappointed with the fingerprint identifying button . It's a POS . Also I'm used to a headphone jack and the FM radio

  7. Does it come with a stylus.

  8. Better value than a Pixel

  9. This is now only $499.00 in 512 gig on Motorola Website!

  10. My 3 year old Asus Zenfone 6 can take 4K 60fps. Although 1080p 60fps is good too.
And IF 120Hz is good, how come there is no 1080p and 4K in 120fps? 60Hz (or 60fps) is good enough for scrolling or flipping with the phone screen in desktop mode.

  11. I'm starting to believe that turning the LED and using it as flashlight with that karate chop movement is what broke my Motorola years ago. What do I mean by that? There were times when I was holding the phone and it would switch to landscape view for no reason.
it did it one too many times and I smashed the phone on the ground……………well, I remember seeing a tiny little ball in a cylinder and probably the ball got stuck in the landscape view and was never able to go back to the portrait view.
    .
Either way, I will not recommend people to use that karate chop in order to turn on the LED flash………you might brake the mechanism. By the way, I paid $100 for that old Motorola, it happened 3 years ago.

  12. It's on sale at $500.

  13. The only problem I have with mine is that occasionally when the screen goes dark the Bluetooth connection gets lost

  14. Motorola might not have the best technology but after using Samsung Flagship phones and Motorola phones, Motorola phones are just built to last longer, the build quality, is simply better than Samsung, it's going to last long. It's kind of like the difference between a Toyota that might not be that fancy but it's going to be with you in the long run, versus a Cadillac that's got all kinds of cool bells and whistles but it's going to spend a lot of time in the shop because of poor build quality. To each their own.

  15. If the Google Pixel 6 Pro had a better processor than SD 8 Gen 1 in the Edge Plus then yes it would be a better choice. It doesn't and isn't suitable for power users. On the other hand the Edge + only has 8GB of RAM which is a real bummer. If it had a 16GB RAM option then the Edge + would be a no brainer. Why Motorola gave the Edge + a great cpu with only 8GB RAM is anyone's guess. I have not seen any Edge + models with 12GB RAM for sale even though they were supposed to exist. Very strange.

  16. How does it compare to the newer Samsung note?

  17. F U Motorola!πŸ–•πŸ–•πŸ–•πŸ–•

  18. if they keep this up and upgrade the water rating I'll be going back to Motorola in a year or two as a had a Moto g4 and loved it until it slowed down significantly
    I love the motion control

  19. The fingerprint deal lost me as a customer.

  20. I really liked everything about the budget Moto G phone I had- especially the software. It was an excellent phone all around, the only downside was basically the budget aspects of the phone (screen, sound quality) which was no means a problem considering the phone cost $150.
I think Motorola is extremely underrated and is doing a great job at making cellphones as they have for years.

Only reason I'm not upgrading is my OnePlus 7T is still going strong, and even after 3 years the tech in phones has not improved enough for me to justify an upgrade (in some cases, it has gone backwards). Ex- many phones now have 1080p screens in base models (even though my 2017 LG G6 ($500) had a 2K screen), same or less RAM, many still having 128GB storage, etc. This phone does stand out as it says screw you to the flagships keeping 3 cameras to the ultra 'premium' phones, even though for years androids had 3 cameras in midrange. Now manufacturers (Apple) basically gatekeep with the 3 cameras as a reason to buy premium phones.

  21. Unfortunately at that price point never & considering the Chinese market so many phones just blow it away.
And if you are paying cash up front it's a definite no for me,The photos looked good though.

Yo homie thank education English thistles good data ty well data technically πŸ˜‚ thank God American hallelujah hohoho goods ty.

  22. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  23. Lol nope

  24. Since Motorola killed off the Z line, this Edge+ might have to be the replacement for my aging Z4.

  25. Lenovo: Just so u know I'm a part of Motorola so its kinda like we a part of each other pretty cool huh? πŸ˜‰

    Motorola: 😏

  26. If I didn't live in the USA, I would definitely sell my OnePlus 7t pro 5G McLaren Edition so I could buy a new Huawei.

  27. I would pay more than $200 for a Motorola, why?
Because they don't care about their customers, you'll miss out on software updates! Run away.

  28. The phone is actually 699 right now at best buy. It has 512 gigs of storage and can get up to 68 watts of fast charging with the right brick which is just nice for that price

  29. About to trade in my Moto G 5 G and get this edge Plus

  30. Ip54 rating, side mounted fingerprint sensor, nope! I'm all set.

  31. i just got this phone from best buy for about 400 dollars after trading in my iphone 12. love it so far 😁😁

  32. Thirty Watts is a fast charger? What about my Vivo X80 Pro with 80W?

  33. I've been debating whether this is worth upgrading from my Z4 that I've had for 2.5 years

  34. I was able to get one at Woot! for $500. I expect the price overall to drop quickly to sub-Pixel prices.

  35. But worth it for $500 as its on sale for that price now.

  36. Now that Woot it selling it for $500 I'm waiting for the critics to say it isn't worth anything over $300. The price makes this a bargain.

  37. No mention of wireless charging. I guess that's how they keep the cost down.

  38. Will this work on T-Mobile? The Edge 2021 did not.

  39. I'm not buying no phone made by someone who started a war with Yahoo

  40. A software update for the camera for this phone was update and as of August 2022, you can now record video at 4K 60fps. I have this phone and it's a great phone. I bought it new for $500 on Woot.

  41. my carrier just offered me $300 off to upgrade.

  42. Good review but Motorola still trails Samsung when comparing their flagship smartphone (the Edge+) to Samsung's flagship smartphone (the S Ultras which also come with S-pens ala a stylus). I actually really liked your review of the Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G (2021) knowing that it was a mid-level smartphone because when I was ready to upgrade from my Samsung Galaxy Note 10+, Samsung decided to drop their very good Note series for the S-series exclusively (and added the Flip series and Fold series instead). I didn't get the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G last year because it wasn't a true flagship smartphone with a built-in stylus so I settled for the Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G but it just wasn't a fantastic smartphone especially with the stylus. The stylus aspect of it stunk so after 4-months, I got the Samsung Galaxy Note 22 Ultra 5G and it's a fantastic smartphone that I plan to keep for a while. It's basically the Note series with the built-in stylus on the left side as opposed to the traditional right side. Before I purchased the Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G and before I purchased the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra 5G, I was considering the option of going back to a normal smartphone without a stylus after a very long time so I searched for all Android smartphones as such including the Motorola Edge+ (older version), Goggle Pixel 6, and OnePlus 9 but the smartphone out of my vast search across the world was a Chinese maker called Xiaomi. They make a lot of other smartphones (including Xiaomi) under the BBK umbrella corporation that also makes at least 8 different brand smartphones including OnePlus where OnePlus is the only Chinese smartphone sold in the U.S. I decided to hold off on the Xiaomi smartphone because it's not sold in the U.S. (but can work depending on your carrier and the allocated frequency bands for the Xiaomi brand as opposed to the available frequency bands in the U.S.) I really wanted last year the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra 5G smartphone. It is a beast of a smartphone that could go toe-to-toe with Samsung's Galaxy S series (S and S+). I read multiple reviews on the Xiaomi from people here in the U.S. that bought it and had issues with getting 5G service but were able to get 4G LTE service easily. Xiaomi came out with the next series smartphone in the Xiaomi 12S Ultra (dropping the Mi name after Xiaomi) and it looks like a great smartphone but last year's version was far superior. The Xiaomi Ultra smartphones are priced exactly the same as the Samsung Galaxy S Ultra smartphones. I decided instead of upgrading to a new smartphone in a year or two (like most people do when they want the newest technology and the battery life is dying on their current smartphone which I believe is a marketing ploy by these smartphone makers to keep making money because the batteries are built in for the past 5+ years), I decided to take a risk and purchased the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra which is now half priced as to what it cost a year ago and I am extremely impressed with it because not only am I easily getting 4G LTE, I'm getting all five bars of 5G! I guess my cellphone carrier has a very strong 5G frequency band because out of the 7-8 5G bands in the U.S,. the Xiaomi only has one 5G band that is compatible in the U.S. in N-41 but that one band gives me all full bars of 5G. I'm not getting the 5G UC coverage as I am on my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra 5G when I swipe back and forth my SIM card but I am thoroughly surprised that I'm getting all five bars of 5G compared to the many reviews I read online on people in the U.S. using Xiaomi smartphones. So going back in upgrading a smartphone, I don't plan to upgrade to a new one until 6G comes out so every 6 months, I will rotate these smartphones so that the battery life on each one just last s a little longer. Also the other point of this long description was to run it by you that Xiaomi includes the USB cable type-A to type-C, a charging brick of 67W (and in some models 120W), include a TPU clear case, a preinstalled TPC plastic screen protector (and not that type that you peel off that's usually on a brand new smartphone), and include the dongle for 3.5mm audio jack to type-c converter. You can also purchase a wireless charger capable also of 67W to 120W charging wattage. If Xiaomi would make a smartphone like the Samsung Galaxy S-Ultra 5G series with a built-in stylus, I would switch over to Xiaomi exclusively because you get a lot for the money you pay. All Samsung gives you is a type-C to type-C USB cable while again Xiaomi gives you a type-A to type-C USB cable, a 67W (or sometimes a 120W) AC brick, a pre-installed screen protector, a TPC clear case, and a dongle (3.5 mm audio to type-C). To give you a hint for the U.S., Xiaomi typically works on T-Mobile and AT&T but doesn't work at all on Verizon. As far as the smaller subsidy mobile service companies that branch out from those two major three (because as we all know Sprint was absorbed into T-Mobile), I don' t know if Xiaomi will work with them.
