Linus’ parents are building a sweet new off-the-grid cabin miles offshore of the mainland here in British Columbia, and while they’ve figured out power, sewage, and water, they left one thing for me: the internet.

Deals for Days. Big home savings are happening now.
There is no way you got the same latency nor did you get gig speed up and down through ubiquity satellites. Especially at 5km.
Until someone just breaks the dish because that probably wasn’t there building or the rain or snow lol
Why not use Starlink?
i was expecting underwater line managment 😑 but somewhere in my mind I know this should be wireless
The reason why Linus couldn't be seen, is due to the curvature of the earth. In Dan Olson's video essay _In Search of A Flat Earth_, Olson notes that at a long enough distance, the curve of the earth hides specific heights. There's even an awe-dropping shot where he demonstrates the effect. Brilliant video essay, entirely tangential. Long story short: if it's longer than 1KM, anything lower than twenty feet below water level ain't gonna be visible. Height matters!
Are you fingering me 😭😂
This video showed up on my feed and it was like a blast from the past. Just a little over 20 years ago I worked for a small startup company that provided wireless internet in upstate NY. At first, we were using BreezeCom panel antennas, and then we switched to using a parabolic grid antenna. We provided a whopping 3 mbps. In those days, everyone was on dial-up or DSL. The equipment was similar to the technology I field tested when I was serving in the Army Signal Corp in the 80s. As soon as I saw the picture of the distance and the RJ45 connector, I knew right away how the problem could be solved. Awesome video.
Did you guys just put the other satellite on a random building? Also a drone would’ve helped a lot lol
Not Starlink?
Gotta love upgrading your parents' tech!
Kinda thought this was a new video ngl
I use Ubiquiti technology to build point to point wifi networks all the time. When I first started working with the technology I was absolutely baffled that it worked as efficiently as it does. @linustechtips has me beat with his total distance. My best is 1.2 miles.
white lion bar.. dishs dont dont work with visual los?? gps ang signal stengh signal ffs like old sat
Nano beams
"Are you fingering me?" Has a very different meaning than "Are you giving me the finger?" Lmfao
Best segway ever
3:35 nerds discover the earth is in fact round
I like he says we don’t do satellite installs in urban areas we do them every day lolol
my 3 meters internet cavle has worse velocity
For future reference, you could have used GPS to get a bearing off a projection towards a known point..
Would fog or mist not effect performance
I'm having fun
Bro did he just give us he's up address õ
There you getting gig speeds, and here I am maxing out at around 560kbps.
the finding Linus chapter reminds me of wheres Waldo
