Over the last few years, we’ve tried to deploy this Gigabyte server chassis as a video editing server NUMEROUS times. Unfortunately, we had issue after issue with the intel drives we were trying to use, but this time, with the help of our sponsor KIOXIA, we’re deploying it as my new ultimate home NAS with their CD6 enterprise NVMe SSDs.

make it a raid 0, thumbs up to see this
In order to need that much storage, Linus would have to have to be guilty of possession of the 3 no nos: cp, snuff films, and worst of all…… emulator roms.
chown I know this command

I think the motherboard is Gigabyte MZ32-AR0
The people you outsource your subtitling to kinda suck
Lol nucking futs
It's frustrating that a channel like Linus Tech Tips isn't posting models of things shown like the mobo/cpu 🙁
Which server is this from Supermicro? I have looked at used Dells to replace my R510 with 3.5 inch SMR drives (read heavy) but they are expensive and only offer the option for four U.2 drives. Lets face it U.2 8TB drives are cheaper than SATA SSDs now.
Has anyone else had issues with the datasets, not showing up in windows? Should they just appear?
no way i have a stick of exactly the same ram just lying around here (crucial 8gb-2666)
All the network bandwidth I have at my house is maybe 50 mbps, which is so slow, I live in the middle of nowhere so there’s no fiber optic or anything like that, the best I can do is starlink which cost 600 dollars initially
Run 10Gb ethernet at home but thinking about 100Gb now.
What a toole
Not impressive speeds, I get that with TrueNAS and 5x 10TB Seagate HDD's. Most of the time im up at 700MB/s
you should try out and make a Fivem Server its a GTA5 RolePlay where u can have scirtps and mods in the server and people play like real life u should give it ago guys keep up the good work
No reason to use compression if Cost plus space/storage and ram/memory do not mean anything.
The 1050 is a very bad choice for video transcoding since the GeForce cards are locked to 2 NVENC encodings at the same time by Nvidia, a Quadro would be a much better choice.
Jake been eating good good
Is there a way to have your system move storage based on how often it's used?
Frequently used: NVME
Mid frequently used: SSD
"Archive" storage: HDD
Steam games you don't usually play slowly switch to the other storages (or at least are written down in the system as "to be moved" that way they don't burn out NVME storage
The storage that the user sees is basically fake… unless the user actually wants to inspect the storage… the health of the drives are checked… extra slots to replace all storage without noticing issue they automatically create the new drive in a RAID setup that matches the user and usecase
Something tells me plex isn't going to utilize this to it's full potential
3:48 That's in my pc too :')
"Those SSDs sound useful," Check price. "Nevermind."
