  1. If this video was helpful, please subscribe! Also, here are some sample prompts we wrote that you can try out with the AI:

    Setting up your smart home
-I’m a smart home beginner. Give me step-by-step instructions for setting up my smart lights in Home Assistant.
-How do set up presence detection in Home Assistant so when my phone leaves the house it can trigger an automation.

    Finding products
-I have Alexa speakers and Philips Hue in my smart home. I’m looking for a smart thermostat that works with what I already have. What do you suggest?
-What are the best smart light switches that I can automate with Amazon Alexa?
-Compare and contrast Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra and Roborock S8 Pro Ultra. Put the differences in a table.

    Automation ideas
    – Pretend to be an expert in home automation, and give me unique home automation ideas.
    – What is a Siri shortcut I could use with my smart light bulbs?

  2. That ending!! 😀 😀

  3. It's been helping me a lot writing Javascript code for highly advanced automations in function nodes in node red

  4. Wow, where do you live that you receive Amazon deliveries at 3 or 4 AM? That is crazy! Well, I have have the option for delivery before 11 AM and I received my package at 8:30.

  5. Long time viewer first time commenter Reed iron that shirt k bye

  6. All the name brand smart home speakers now are stupid. You would figure with internet access they could do a decent job with information and task manipulation without us having to dive deep into the how to information on the internet, yet they don't. Whatever company incorporates AI (when it gets better) to do these things with their smart speaker should be able to rule the smart home world.

  7. Put the chatgpt automation results back into Google and find out where it stole the code from.

  8. "I own you" 😮 that's the moment you need to throw it away 😂

  9. AI sounds like a typical guy – 80% right, 100% Sure

  10. Intriguing demonstration. I've been using my Bing Chat AI gora week so to assist with all sorts of things and it's just as good if not better as talking to a person.
I will try these smart home examples to experiment how well it can create routines. This is so cool.
    Thanks.

  11. AI is very confident even when it hallucinates

  12. AI is pretty amazing, but when you think about it, it's pretty well doing what a human would do, but doing it a lot quicker. It's scraping information from the internet, putting it together and then formatting it based on the information available.
It's amazing, and for some a little scary, how "human" the responses can be, but you are right that you have to be very careful to make sure it is right. If you tell the AI it got it wrong, it usually will then retry the whole thing, but often if it gets it wrong the first time, it will struggle even the second or third time. I think it's great for getting ideas and starting points for things.

  13. "12 years later is seams its doing the exact same thing" +1

  14. This is not what AI in the smart home should be. It should instead recognize that when A happens you always do B and start doing that for you.

  15. 🤨🤨🤨 chatGPT sounded a lot like my wife there at the end

  16. You should look into magic mirror

  17. i have pretty much close to zero knowledge of coding. i had it write some things for me on python and i just copy, paste, if it doesnt run, copy it back, ask it to fix it.
i hope gpt can help a lot of people getting into home assistant (like myself)

  18. Being able to communicate with your virtual assistant or smart home in natural language to trigger automation is soooo ideal. I agree It is a poor experience to need to speak the specific phrase in order for the assistants to understand. I’m actual currently trying to solve that on that and I’m almost have it figured out!

Also your skit at the end was hilarious 😂

  19. Amazon delivery at 3am? Bs

  20. What is AI? I’m new to this

For some people, setting up a smart home can be difficult, I hope matter 1.0 can solve the problem… 💯

  21. I wonder if GPT4 would have made the leaps that 3 couldn't. (I see I'm not the only one to comment this 🤣)

And yeah, is a very confident liar – it's amazing at telling stories 👍

  22. Probably the reason a lot of the instructions could've been wrong is because it's dataset stops at 2021

Sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that. lol

  23. 5:25 "Can you imagine someone saying something so wrong with such confidence" Yes I can, Joe Biden and Karine Pierre do it on a daily basis.😄

  24. I tried it with creating a yaml for HA but it couldn’t. I didn’t help it at all because I wanted to force it to figure out the problem without any help from me. It failed which is good imo

  25. The new updated Bard that's coming and was showed off at Google I/O is definitely gonna be better then ChatGPT once released fully

  26. Do you know how to fix a Sonoff motion sensor that is not working with an Echo 4th gen zigbee hub?

  27. Really funny at the end, good stuff thanks

  28. Something to keep in mind with Chat GPT is that it's working from a dataset in 2021, so specifically, when you are talking about software and changes to UI, menus and features it can be outdated. Google's Bard AI has internet search capabilities and can be more up-to-date, however, I have noticed it's not nearly as detailed as Chat GPT's responses are when providing step-by-step instructions.

  29. i've been using GPT-4 for advanced automation scripts, can say for sure it is much better than GPT3.5. I now also have access to GPT-4 with the web search plugin which almost eradicates any incorrect information or code.

  30. Great video! Love the Wall-e shirt

  31. that's ChatGPT 3.5? i think 4 will be more advance

  32. You went through all this much trouble to make a video and didn't show us how you did it. Gee thanks

  33. Great use case, thank you! Was this openAI gpt 3.5 or 4?

  34. I need some help with how I should run a certain automation. I have both a ring contact senor on my garage entry door and an Alexa In my kitchen. I want an announcement when I open the garage door for the Alexa to say “Take off your shoes”. But I only want it to run when we enter, not when we leave. Any tips?!

  35. Another amazing video! Wait, You get deliveries at 3 or 4 AM?!?! 🤪

  36. I totally agree with the “exact phrase” thing with Echos. That’s a big reason we’ve been slow to really incorporate as much smart home stuff as we’d like. It’s like we have to learn their language instead of them learning our language, like ChatGPT has done.

  37. That last part was for real that was scary😮😮😮
