I love this video so much. Thank you Linus for advocating for gamers to buy used cards. The more we buy used, the less cards get manufactured and sold for $$$$$ (jacking up prices) and the less cards end up in eWaste. Get out there and support your fellow gamer by getting a bargain, and helping someone else upgrade. It’s the circle of life!

Shit companies like EA, Activation, & Apple keep being shitty because people keep paying for their crap.
As long as people keep paying for products, companies selling those products have absolutely no reason to change their business model for the better. If i were nVidia, and people were still buying my GPU's at insane, pandemic level prices, Why the fuck would i be stupid enough to lower the price back down and loose all that extra profit? I'd be thinking "oh, people are still wiling to pay these prices, sooo ill keep charging them.. more money for me!"
Coloring only the sections of the graph that we should be looking at is amazing, please continue that. The short windows given to observe differences when everything is the same color, even with the GPUs' names highlighted, is not sufficient.
Remember guys, when buying a GPU second hand, being black is NOT a red flag!

Hey Linus nice work here. I had never bought a second hand gps until about 6 month ago but with the crazy state of the gpu market I took the plunge and bought a second hand 3090 $900 aud (about 600 usd) and it’s been working great and still out performs anything new that I could have bought for that
So, we want to punish NVIDIA by boycotting "40-series", instead we are going to buy second hand "30-series" from the Seller who is upgrading their PC to "40-series"?🤣

On the driver support side, I'm running a 1650 and it still gets updates frequently

If I were to upgrade I'd have to price in an upgrade to my 500W PSU unless I went with a 4060 or similar low W card. Also have to consider the case size and cooling capacity. It's not as straightforward as you make it sound.
Anyways, I'm one of the plurality of remaining 1060 users, and it still does the job for me. So I will save you all money and not shop for a new GPU for no reason. You're welcome.
The entire "vote with your wallet" thing is so dumb.
Why the actual F is the only viable way for the average person to get a gaming PC, or anything else good for that matter, a huge financial gamble? Why does the average person have to take the risk of spending their money to get no insurance?
Not to mention that this might be neat in the short term but in the long term it will just give corporations a reason to raises prices even more as the second hand market becomes smaller.
We could fix this, or better put the government should fix this in our name. It's by and for the people, right? Companies should set be forced to set a realistic lifespan for their products and provide warranty regardless who has the product. Of course in our amazing democracy where "vote with your wallet" is also the main way to participate is never going to listen to the people when corporations can lobby/donate to politicians in the tunes of many millions to get their way. Seriously, how the actual F is corporate bribery just normal and legal?
And if history is anything to go by this is only going to get worse. Rich get richer at the expense of everyone else is at this point a meme but it's a very dangerous one since, again, it's not what you do at the ballet box but what you do with your wallet that makes policy. Which isn't great since YOU are poor in comparison to billionaires or massive investment firms like Blackrock or Vanguard.
Gpu pricing is out of control, so what do we do? Reward bad behavior from our other nemesis's scalpers and miners

As someone who bought a used 1080ti in the fall of 2019 for 450$ I will be looking again on 2nd hand markets to find another deal like that on a 3080 ti here in the future. Screw these new prices.

when i bought my 3090 i had the previous seller test it before i even considered buying it and almost my entire pc is used hardware, my cpu, case, and water loop are the only new components. i am personally a huge fan of buying used just make sure you get it tested first.
